Summer fashion forecast: eye-popping brights shine on the runway

The news these days is full of dark and gloomy news about the economy and the state of the world. Luckily, as was seen on the spring runways, color is the it-thing in fasion these days. The obsession for bright, saturated colors in fashion has carried over into the cosmetic industry. Fuschias, deep purples, and turquoises are everywhere from your department store make-up counter to the cosmetic aisle in Target.

Afraid that these hues are a little too out of your league? Not to worry. Almost all of them are easy to wear, and will flatter most skin tones.

First, the eyes. NARS has some very gorgeous shades for eyes this summer that will make your eyes get noticed. Cleo and Demon Lover are two of their eyeshadow duos that are bright, but  can be put on sheerly and built upon for more color saturation. Cover Girl's 1-Kit Eye Enhancers eye shadows have a very large range of colors, and have done a great job in the saturated-color department. Try their Purple Pop shade or Turquoise Tempest.  Remember to stay away from yellow eye shadows around the eyes. This will make your skin look sallow and tired. Also stay away from pinker shades, as these will bloodshot areas of the eye, if you happen to have them.

Fuschia is the big color this summer for lips. Almost every cosmetic manufacturer has recently introduced a fuschia lip balm, lip glaze, lip gloss, or lip stick. Fuschia is great on almost every skin tone, and will definitely emphasize your mouth and get you lots of attention. As with any bright color, fuschia lip color can be a bit intimidating at first. If you are not so sure or are just starting out, start with a tinted lip balm. One that's great is MAC's tinted lip conditioner in Fuschia Fix. The color goes on very sheer (and feels amazig on lips) and can be built up for more pigmentation. If you want to attempt a deeper, more saturated fuschia the new hybrid gloss-lipstick combinations (such as Revlon's Creme Gloss) are a great way to add punch to your lips. Their color Fiercely Fuschia is a great choice. If you are looking for something a bit more matte, Lancome's Color Fever Lipstick in Rock Icon Fuschia is a beautiful selection.

Remember, when you are wearing bright colors, only choose one part of your face to highlight or brighten. Don't pair bright purple eyes and fuschia lipcolor. If you go with a bright lip, wear a neutral eye. If you choose a bright eye, wear a neutral lip color. The whole point of the color trend is to highlight or brighten up one portion of the face...not to look like a kid playing with make-up. Your look should be sophisticated, not kindergarten.
