A George Harrison-themed garden was among the attractions at the 2008 Chelsea Garden Show at the Royal Hospital in the Chelsea area of London. The 2009 show was held this week.
The 2008 show featured a garden sponsored by the Material World Charitable Foundation called "A Life to Life: A Garden For George," designed by George Harrison's widow, Olivia Harrison, and Yvonne Innes, wife of singer Neil Innes.
According to the Chelsea Garden show website, the garden was divided into four areas to represent George’s life: his early years in Liverpool, the '60s, his later years and his spiritual life. A glass sun with George’s song titles is one of the sights. It won a Silver Gilt award, the second highest award given at the show.
Ringo Starr called the show "a great day out." “It’s exciting to see all the plants and gardens," he said in an interview on the site. "I’ve just arrived, but the first two gardens I’ve seen so far have been very exciting. The George Harrison garden, of course, but also the Chinese garden. It’s so incredible that they let them dig that deep, they are half way to China!”
Olivia Harrison said the reason why George Harrison loved gardening so much is that it was a time to himself. "Above all in the garden, no one asks about business. I think that's why he liked it."
Olivia Harrison, Ringo Starr and wife Barbara Bach appeared at a preview of the 2009 show Sunday, according to the Associated Press.

Ringo is a hoot.
This was last year! I visited it and it was beautiful. Olivia and Yvonne Innes did a wonderful job.
You can see a virtual display of how the garden progressed from start to finish at www.georgeharrison.com
There was a rumor from the tabloid trash mag,the Star, that Ringo refused to sign an autograph and made an old woman cry.
If it's true,it's because he was trying to pay tribute to George and a disrespectful person interrupted that,if the story is true at all.
I so fully enjoyed reading your well shared info on the gardens and the people too. Thank you.
