(Above: Paul McCartney singing "My Brave Face" live on UK TV.)
So Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are both touring this year. If you had to pick a song for them to include in their setlists, either for the first time or back again, what would it be?
(And note, we've mentioned songs that have been in setlists before.)
For Paul, there are many choices. We've always had wished he'd do "Mull of Kintyre" in the U.S., but barring that, some good Beatle choices might be "Rocky Raccoon," "Teddy Boy," "Clarabella" (from the BBC days), "Two of Us" or even "Why Don't We Do It in the Road." As for solo songs, there are many, but here are a few: "Off the Ground," "Spies Like Us," "My Brave Face," "I've Had Enough" and "With a Little Luck." (We especially like the last two.)
As for Ringo, here are some suggestions: "Matchbox," "Goodnight, Vienna," "Wrack My Brain", "Back Off Boogaloo", "Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go" (still one of Ringo's best solo songs ever) or "King of Broken Hearts" (which originally featured George) and even "Goodnight."
Sure, none of these songs may show up in the sets. But who says we can't throw out an idea or two.
Feel free to put your ideas in the comment section.

I have never understood why Paul doesn't perform certain singles live. "The World Tonight" and "Ever Present Past" would be nice to hear. What about Ringo taking on "Nobody Told Me?" It was written with him in mind and he might have fun with it.
Thanks so much for the "My Brave Face" video. I was so fortunate to see "Young Master Christopher" on drums and Linda on keyboards and vocals twice.... 18th row center at Skydome, Toronto...1989 and a slightly altered version of the band, front row centre..June 1993 in TO at the now "deconstructed" Exhibition Stadium. My dream is to see Macca play with his current band "I love Brian Ray" and I think the harmonies on "My Brave Face" would send chills up the spine!
for Paul and his return to the Hollywood Bowl..

Ringo should dust off "Only You" .... it's his only top-10 single he's never done on tour.
As for Sir Paul, I'm gonna go with an old Wings favorite, "Daytime Nightime Suffering"

Have to agree with "Mull of Kintyre", "Teddy Boy" and "With a Little Luck", as well as the poster who suggested that Paul do "Rock Show" at the Hollywood Bowl... that, "Figure of Eight" and "Hello Goodbye" are my favorite show-starters.
Why not go back to Wings Over America open... Venus & Mars/Rock Show/Jet?
The one song I'd love to hear after all these years is Oh Darling... not sure he could deliver it as done on Abbey Road. However, as a bluesy acoustic piece, ala George Benson or Laurence Juber... that would be nice! Could even break into the original after the opening blues (like Concert for George "Something") and let the band rip for a while. Now that I've said it though, Paul could probably rip a hole in that one, too. Never figured he'd be doing Helter Skelter at this stage, and that it would be such a show-stopper.
How about "Party"? Ever since seeing the Overtures doing it on my last night at the Cavern in '08, it has become a favorite... and an ass-kicking ro
I'd love to hear him do A World Without Love and Woman (Do You Love Me) in honor of Gordon Waller. (It'd be great if he could get Peter onstage a time or two.) Also would really like to hear Come and Get It, another McCartney classic we've never heard live.
One Of These Days from McCartney II.
Venus/Mars
1.-LETTING GO
Come & Get It
Getting Closer
Day Time Night Time Suffering
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey
No More Lonely Nights
Beautiful Night
Monkberry Moon Delight
Oh Darling
Rocky Racoon
Another Girl
For Beatles years: Lovely Rita-I'm lookingh trough you - Your mother should know and The night before.
For Macca solo years: Tug of War-Beautiful night-Wanderlust-Take it away-No more lonely night and Pipes of peace
Paul? duh "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"!
Ringo? There is an old song by a country artist, Ernest Tubb
called "Thanks A Lot". It would be a great Ringo song.
Paul, Beatles: Rocky Raccoon. No doubt about it. I've waited YEARS for him to perform this one live.
As far as his solo years, he could drop the Beatles songs completely and fill in with them, and I'd love it. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey is my top choice there, but there are many.
Ringo: How about What Goes On?
For Paul: The night before (opening), london town tracks, my brave face, No more tracks we hear for the alst ten years.
More Wings..more Wings and...more Wings.
Paul could easily sub the over-played Let Me Roll It with Letting Go. Come to think of it, he hasn't played ANYTHING from Venus and Mars on a concert stage since 1976. Tracks from Venus and Mars, London Town and Back To The Egg...there are many, many songs that deserve to be dusted off.
PAUL:
- Silly Love Songs
- No More Lonely Nights
- Mull Of Kintyre
- Oh Darling
- Maxwell Silver Hammer
- Beautiful Night
- Little Willow
- Take It Away
- Pipes Of Peace
- Tug Of War
- Coming Up
- Say, Say, Say
RINGO:
- Sunshine Life For Me
- No No Song
- Six O'Clock
- Goodnight Vienna
- Devil Woman
- You And Me (Babe)
- Early 1970
- Where Did Our Love Go
- This Called A Song
- A Dose of Rock 'N' Roll (Intro to every concert)
- Hey! Baby
- Sneaking With Sally Through The Alley
- Tango All Night
- Simple Love Song
- Private Property
- Attention
- You Belong To Me
- Brandy
- Stop And Take The Time To Smell The Roses
- Be My Baby
- As Far As We Can Go (Should be sung at the end of every concert)
- She's About A Mover
- Runaway
- Don't Be Cruel
- Everyone Wins
- La De Da
- Liverpool 8
- Never Without You
- Fading In Fading Out
Well for Ringo maybe, You & Me (Babe) will be the ending song for every concert.
RINGO: "Good Night" (!!)
PAUL: "Temporary Secretary" '-)
Have dreamed of hearing Spin It On live since I bought Back To The Egg with my 15th birthday money. As for Ringo: A long shot, but Down & Out would rock-----or Instant Amnesia would be smoke'n! Maybe a taste of Snookeroo (did I spell that right?). Take care all and I'll see you at "...The Sports Arena."
Isn't Teddy Boy considered a solo and not Beatle song?
Junk, Teddy Boy, Mull of Kintyre, I've Just seen a face, Wanderlust, Little Lamb Dragonfly, Flowers in the Dirt....
..and many songs from Run Devil Run.
Even just sticking to the hits, it would be so refreshing to hear Paul break out Take It Away, Pipes Of Peace, or Junior's Farm. Ringo could greatly improve his shows by adding Only You (And You Alone) or something like Have You Seen My Baby.
I'd love to see Paul add:
Junior's Farm
Getting Closer
No Words
On The Wings Of A Nightengale
Warm And Beautiful
Ringo:
Have You Seen My Baby
Easy For Me
Snookeroo
Martha My Dear!!!
BACK TO THE 80'S:
I'd love to hear Paul play some songs from his "unsung" 80's albums: "Dress me up as a robber", "Pipes of peace", "No more lonely nights", "Ballroom dancing", "Wanderlust", "Take it away", "Stranglehold" and so on. Maybe he even could do a Michael Jackson-tribute with Say Say Say/The Man?
Paul: How about:

Your Mother Should Know
Back Seat Of My Car

I would love for Paul to do "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" live. It's Chick Berry's song but Paul's version is superb. "Oh Darlin'" and "And Your Bird Can Sing" are two I would love to see.
I would love for Ringo to FINALLY do "Octopus's Garden" live, and "The Weight of the World" which is one of his great oldies. I have seen him do "I Am the Greatest" in one of his previous tours and would love it again.

Ringo - DEFINITELY second Scott Shaw's Instant Amnesia! Title song from Y Not too!
For Paul:
Ever Present Past
My Brave Face
Night Before
Dear Boy
It would be great if Paul played "Venus and Mars/ Rock Show"-- at least at his Bowl show!
"You've got Rock and Roll
At the Hollywood Bowl
We'll be there.......... Oh yeah........."
A few that come to mind are
Paul - For No One, No values, Junior's Farm. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, So Glad to See You Here would be a good opener. Then there's Baby's Request, Take It Away and I would also love to hear "With A Little Luck".
Paul: Smile Away; Give Ireland Back to the Irish; Free as a Bird
Ringo: Early 1970; Goodnight; STOP SINGING "Boys"!! LOL
Ringo should stick with his hits, or no one will show up...having said that, I'd love to hear Octopus's garden. I'd pay to see him do a tour with the Roundheads, but that's not going to happen.
I love for Paul to do a number of John's songs since there is no one else qualified.
I'm no longer attending Ringo concerts until he starts playing all new songs. This has to be the worst all star band he put together. His albums I'll still buy
COME AND GET IT - On The Wings Of A Nightingale - Waterspout - Step Inside Love... How 'bout some of the songs that he wrote but either didn't record or didn't put out - may make a really fresh approach for the next Live album...
I'd love for Paul to take on some of his quirkier songs, like "Temporary Secretary", "Oo You" or "Morse Moose and the Grey Goose" (especially with the big screens... would be a hoot and a fun alternate finale to "The End"). More than anything else, I'd rather he lay off the Beatle songs! I'm a Paul fan and would love to see more Paul songs.
I think they should add each other to the set list. GET TOGEATHER AND TOUR GUY'S.
For Paul: Somedays, No More Lonely Nights, Getting Closer, This One, I Will
For Ringo: Snookeroo, King of Broken Hearts, Beaucoups of Blues
Paul -
Helen Wheels
Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey
The World Tonight
The Mess
Big Barn Bed
Junior's Farm
Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five
