Ringo's star shines bright in nighttime Walk of Fame ceremony

Several hundred Ringo Starr fans turned out for Monday's dedication of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at Capitol Records.

Ringo seemed very touched by the whole ceremony and was in great spirits during his speech and the speeches of those who made comments in his behalf -- Joe Walsh, Don Was and Ben Harper.

Many celebrities were in attendance, including Ringo's wife Barbara and his sister-in-law Marjorie Bach, Jeff Lynne, David Lynch, Noah Wyle, Keith Allison, Bruce Sugar, Jim Keltner and Edgar Winter.

Several local politicians, including Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa also spoke.

The crowd was full of Beatle fans who cheered loudly for Ringo. Vine Street was closed from noon to 10 p.m. Reports from the internet say there was no sound on the webcast.

Many people I heard from said they could not get sound on the broadcast; maybe it was a bandwidth problem? I had no problem getting the feed on your page Steve, but many people said they couldn't even get the feed to load via the RS site, the Beatles site, or any of the other sites.

About 30 minutes after the ceremony the replay was up with audio included, on your page's player. So people should try again.

    Congratulations Ringo! Starr bright!

It was great that Ben Harper shared tributes from other drummers. And the crowd was a lot bigger than "several hundred." The whole thing was just fab. Love you Ringo!!

Fab4bear: Why be so quick to judge? Perhaps Paul didn't want to take the spotlight away from Ringo? Or perhaps Paul had to be in London, for whatever reason?

Ringo said in his speech that Paul was in England. And actually, though it would have been interesting to have Paul there, it was Ringo's night.

I was very happy to see Ringo and his STAR. And I agree with many, even nicer that it is done while he is alive. Many wanted to know where Paul was. Well Ringo stated he was in England. So evidently he could not attend. And I also agree, this night belonged to RINGO. He has such a cute sense of humor. Really nice. Glad I could share this moment as many others have done also. Peace & Love to Ringo and everyone!! Barb
