It looks like the plans for the new version of "Yellow Submarine" are moving ahead very quickly.

We've heard from someone involved that auditions for the new version of "Yellow Submarine" are taking place today in Southern California. Tryouts for the John Lennon role, we're told, were said to be going on, probably for human models for the animated figures.

The deal for the new film, by the way, was announced just over a month ago on Sept. 11.

You don't need an actor for John unless you're doing that horrible motion capture instead of real animation. More hack work from Zemeckis.

Too most... a bad idea comes from those that couldn't make a movie themselves nor wait for one to be created and released.. This is not meant to compete with the original.Critique it when it hits the theaters. The original was "not" the Beatles either my judgmental friends.Telling people you won't go see it actually amounts to less than nothing.. Tell it to the blind.

Kevin you are entitled to your own opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. DOn't label any of us who think this a bad idea as judgmental, you don't know us. It's just our opinions.

It was not the Beatles voices the first time around. It won't be the Beatles this time around. Not sure what the fuss is about. I will see it on DVD.

    DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!!!!!!!!

New version will expose a new generation to the BeatlES?! As if the Beatles need a remake of "Yellow Submarine" to do that? How about if today's clueless crowd turned off their friggin' cell phones and put down the video game joysticks and realize thE world existed prior to 2001. Also, Why can't today's crowd come up with something original? I could see if they wanted to do another "YS" by CONTINUING the voyage with different songs and have their sons do the voices for each respective Beatle who has passed on. Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr could do the honors for themselves. Either way, I am sure it will end up featuring some hack actors and will not hold a candle to the original- which is always the case. DUMB idea!

    GET SOME CREATIVITY PEOPLE!!!!!

    Hey Melody..
I don't think his opinion was given..Yours clearly was though...How do you actually have an opinion on something that has not yet been released by the way?? My opinion is..Any product that can continue the legacy of The Fab Four is a great thing..

    People
Why don't you use your own creative mind and get your own ideas out before criticizing something that hasn't even been finished yet by others.. The idea that Sean/Julian and Dhani be commissioned is kind of ridiculous to be very honest. The Beatles never lent their voices originally and the Beatles are no more now..It would be stupid to ask Ringo and Paul (ex Beatles) to pretend to be Beatles now..That'll never ever happen.See...this is the reason why fan ideas don't produce fruit for the world to enjoy..Thank Goodness... Maybe the Rutles could do their own YS voyage with Monty Python scripting..I would love that and so would George.

What I find amusing is that whether you're for or against a remake of Yellow Submarine, The Beatles are still causing debates 35 years later. And everyone is entitled to their opinion whether the rest of us think it's ludicrous or not. It's just an opinion and it certainly won't change anything. The Beatles were, are and will always be the band that will live forever in our hearts, minds and on our lips. Anyone who says they've never sang a Beatles song must either be deaf or mute. I grew up with the boys and each generation since then has experienced and enjoyed them as well. Considering the movies being mass produced these days, a little light fare would go a long way. ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE!!!!
