We've heard an advance copy of "Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison."
Just to confirm, here's the track listing as shown on the back of the disc:
1. Got My Mind Set On You, 2. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth), 3. The Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll), 4. My Sweet Lord (4:4`) , 5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Live - "Concert For Bangladesh" Soundtrack), 6. All Things Must Pass, 7. Any Road, 8. This Is Love, 9. All Those Years Ago, 10. Marwa Blues, 11. What Is Life, 12. Rising Sun, 13. When We Was Fab, 14. Something (Live - "Concert For Bangladesh" Soundtrack), 15. Blow Away, 16. Cheer Down, 17. Here Comes The Sun (Live - "Concert For Bangladesh" Soundtrack), 18. I Don't Want To Do It, 19. Isn't It A Pity.
The advance disc credits Giles Martin with digital remastering of the tracks at Abbey Road Studios. "Cheer Down," one of our favorites, sounded very clean, and the Bangladesh tracks sound very bright and up front. The advance disc did not come with the 28-page booklet.
Listening to the collection, it resembles somewhat of a FM DJ's set - some very familiar songs, some not so, but all good choices. (How could you not with a George Harrison collection?) A concise look at George's career. And the use of the over 7 minute "Isn't It a Pity?" to wrap it up is a nice coda to the set.
Let it roll.

May I be someone who does not complain about this CD? I think it is a good collection of songs for fans and a great intro to George for new listeners. I think these packages are released for that reason. Great overview of a career with extras added for more serious fans. I can see having this CD playing in my car all summer long.
Sounds like drek as in uncool.
I already have those songs what
reason would I have to buy it ?
Drek, Willie? I'd hardly call George Harrison tracks that. As I predicted it might be, it's an introduction to George for those not really familiar with him. We can quibble about the choices, certainly, but it doesn't embarrass his reputation. That would be difficult, IMO. Some people will buy it, some won't. Either way, I think, as a listenable collection, it works. It's safe. That's probably a good way to put it.
I would still like to see a comprehensive, 2-CD George collection. I agree with you Steve; LET IT ROLL is a fine assortment of George's better known songs.
Steve - do you detect a big difference in the sound between this disc and the recent remasters? Worth the cost of the disc to those of us who *sigh* bought the latest and greatest?
tonyc - I don't think there is, with the exception, maybe of the Bangladesh tracks.
thanks steve... good to know!
Is the version of "I Don't Want To Do It" the single version with all of the Haarison Guitar Overdubs or the inferior "Porky's Revenge" version?
I see the apologists are out already defending this shockingly inept collection. Of course, all of the songs are great, but the problem is what it is *LEAVING OFF*!. The picture is incomplete. Staggering in its slipshod and incompetent track selection. And, if you think that's harsh, just check out the many alternate fan suggested track listings, which really do present a fresh, vital look at the entire arc of George's output.

Peter - Much as you (and I) would have liked it, that was obviously not the intention here. Will there be something in time that's more in line with what some people would prefer? Hopefully.
Maclen: It's overdubbed and not the "Porky's Revenge" version.
Steve, You've got me confused now. You say that "I Don't Want To Do It" is the 45 version with all of the Harrison Guitar over dubs. Then you have a link to the "Porkey's Revenge" inferior version. Which is, inquiring minds want to know
Believe it or not english is my first language. You have a link set up to the "Porkys Revenge" version of "I Don't Want To Do It", yet you SAY it's the 45 version with the Harrison Guitar Overdubs. Once again may I ask, which is on the New CD?
Maclen: It's the overdubbed version.
Thanks for clarifying on the "I Don't Want To Do It". While I'm at, thank you for all of the wealth of information provided on all things B-E-A-T-L-E. Your site is beautiful.
Hi Steve, when I compare the "I Don't Want To Do It" from "12 Arnold Grove" then I hear a lot of slide-guitar overdubs but NOT on the version, provided with "Let It Roll Songs Of George Harrison". I have no other possibilities to compare. Does this mean, the song from the new compilation is from "Porky's Revenge" soundtrack?
Got something to say?
