Ringo Starr (Henry Diltz, 2005)
Some new names and old friends are likely for Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band tour next year, sources tell us.
The new names are Wally Palmar from the Romantics and guitarist Rick Derringer. The veterans back on the tour include Edgar Winter and Gary Wright.
Derringer and Winter offer some interesting possibilities. They worked together previously in lineups of Edgar Winter's White Trash and the Edgar Winter Group in the 1970s, and recorded several albums, including a live album, "Roadwork." Derringer, who had a hit as a solo performer with "Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo," was also former lead singer for the McCoys, known for the '60s hit "Hang On Sloopy." That song was the number one hit in America before a song called "Yesterday" by the Beatles knocked it off the top of the charts.
Palmar was guitarist and a vocalist for the Romantics, also one of the co-authors of "What I Like About You," a hit for the band.
Edgar Winter played on the ninth and 10th editions of the All-Starr Band. Gary Wright played on several George Harrison albums, including "All Things Must Pass" and the 10th All Starr Band in 2008.
It's possible that late complications could change things, but these names will be likely among those seen on the tour, we're told.

2010 is turning out to be Ringo's year, looking forward to the new album and tour.
Hope the new AllStarr's have many new faces, it is time for a line up change.
Paul playing on Ringo's new album and the new duet are sure to be great.
I'm not usually one to complain about these things, but, can Ringo Starr do no better than that (rather lame-looking) lineup for 2010? What happened to the days of John Entwhistle, Peter Frampton, etc. The lineups for the last few tours are "casino" acts at best.
Why even bother. Another boring concert
Those who complain about the line up can stay home. As has been proven 10 times over, the mix - while maybe looking disjointed at first glance - always seems to work. I mean, who said "let's put Richard Marx and Edgar Winter together on stage"? I don't know and I don't care. Point is, I might not go see a 2-hour show by either of them solo. But in the All Starr Band, where it's just a jukebox full of hits, the formula works. Strangely, my only complaints have ever been the Ringo portion of the set, which have had little deviation in his song selections. We finally got to hear "Oh My My" last time around ... maybe this time we'll get another top-10 record he's never done, like "Only You". I hope I'm wrong on this, but as Ringo turns 70 next year, this could be our last time to catch him on tour.
You Tell'em, Toronto Tom!!
Edgar Winter & Derringer will be incredible on this tour. Saw the 2008 tour and had a great time, especially seeing Edgar play. With the addition of Rick Derringer, who is playing great these days, count me in on tickets!
I would like to see Joey Molland join up for one of Ringo's All Stars. He has such a strong connection with the Beatles being in Badfinger. His set on the Hippiefest Tours have been met with great enthusiasm. Hope to see him with Ringo one of these days.
the All Starr Band shows are always great. Can't wait to see who will be added as bassist and second drummer
MARK C. - John Entwhistle is dead, so is Billy Preston. Saw the All-Starrs in '95 (?) in Louisville with both John and Billy, it was great. By the end of the concert, I was by the stage jumping up & down like a teen. Ringo looked at me like I was nuts. That night I got to shake Billy's hand. The hand that had played on four Beatles #1s*, several JG&R albums, many Stones tracks, as well as Billy's own hits, of course. And three of my favorite Apple albums: Billy's THAT'S THE WAY GOD PLANNED IT, ENCOURAGING WORDS, and DORIS TROY. The combo of US soul and UK rock on those three made an outstanding mix. Sadly overlooked of course, as almost all non-Fabs Apple albums. That was the last All-Starrs show I've seen, barely missed 2008. This year is a MUST!
*(Get Back, Let It Be, The Long and Winding Road, and wasn't he on 'Something' (?), a double-sided #1 wih 'Come Together'.)
This will be the best line up ever will see them !
I think it is great that Ringo is still touring but I do think that he is really letting his European fans down when he every time is touring the US only.
I wish he would add Rob Grill from the Grass Roots on bass
Got something to say?
