The final day of the first ever Beatles Fest West 2009 was supposed to be quiet and full of acoustic music. It was quiet in other ways -- the parking lot under the Masonic Center in San Francisco had only a handful of cars.
But what was announced Saturday night was repeated Sunday -- Beatles Fest West is planning to be back in 2010.
The crowd that was there appreciated the all-acoustic music lineup. Peter LoMenzo, a member of the Sun Kings, the Beafore from Germany and All You Need Is Love from Canada, all of whom who had performed the night before (sounds like a good song title), and the Rubber Souls, from nearby Santa Cruz. (You can see photos of the performers in the slideshow at the bottom.)
Though dealers may have waited for customers, there was one thing at the show that was in demand from beginning to end: "The Beatles: Rock Band" demostration. It never stopped.
There's just something about that music, isn't there?

Glad to hear they're coming back, same time next year! I couldn't make it this year, but intend to go for sure next year. How was business in the dealer room?
Too bad about the small audience. Beatles fans are probably poor from Rockband and the re releases.
Mic C: Well, there was free admission on Sunday with several performances of acoustic music by some of the groups that had played for a paid crowd the night before (and others, too.) So people who couldn't afford to come the first two days could have come the last day.
What a great program for any/all Beatles fan and anyone who appreciates great music. Acoustic day was great! The Rubber Soul guys were awesome! I hope they're back next year!
Sunday was a great day. RubberSouls were a local surprise, and an utter delight - hope to see and hear much more of them, even before BFW2010!
