"The Beatles: Rock Band" has been named in two categories for nominations in the 2009 Video Game Awards, it was announced Wednesday by Spike TV.
It was nominated as Best Music Game, where it will go up against "DJ Hero," "Guitar Hero 5" and "LEGO Rock Band." It was also nominated for Best Soundtrack with "Brutal Legend," "DJ Hero" and "Guitar Hero 5."
Games released between Dec. 2, 2008 and Nov. 23, 2009 were eligible to be nominated.
The seventh annual VGAs will be broadcast in over 180 territories and countries and gathering stars from the worlds of video games, Hollywood, music, sports and more to honor achievements within the video game industry during the past year. The two-hour event, taking place in Los Angeles, will air on Dec. 12 on Spike TV, live on the East Coast at 8 p.m. ET, and on tape delay on the West Coast at 8 p.m. PT.
