MORE HANDMADE FILMS COMING TO DVD: Image Entertainment, a leading manufacturer of DVDs of movies and television material, has taken on the rights to several of George Harrison's HandMade Films, according to Reuters, and will issue them on DVD. Films titles involved in the deal include "Time Bandits," "The Long Good Friday," "Mona Lisa," "A Private Function," "Withnail & I" and "How to Get Ahead in Advertising." The soundtrack for "Withnail & I" included an actual Beatles song, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," while "Time Bandits" included George Harrison's "Dream Away."
ALL SYSTEMS GO: Brian Ray put up a note on his Facebook page Tuesday that said, "We just wrapped up day 2 of rehearsals here, the singer is in good form, as per usual w/some cool surprises on the Up and Coming Tour.. stay tuned, ok?" Wonder if "the singer" has heard your suggestions for their live shows?
LONDON BEATLES DAY: Pete Nash of the British Beatles Fan Club sent us this info about London's Beatles Day on March 21. It's be a 20th year anniversary event with guests Hunter Davies, Quarryman Rod Davis, actor Victor Spinetti ("A Hard Day's Night," "Help!" and "Magical Mystery Tour") and Beatles associate Tony Bramwell, plus authors David Bedford ("Liddypool: Birthplace of the Beatles") and Eric Krasker ("The Beatles: Fact & Fiction"). The event takes place at the Park Inn Hotel in Southhampton Row, London, WC1B 4BH. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., admission £5. Information: www.beatledays.com.
VIRTUAL TOUR OF WALK OF FAME: The Los Angeles Times has a section on its website devoted to pictures of every star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, you'll find the Beatles, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Ringo's doesn't yet, probably because his star is so new, but many of the entries have biographies of the person honored.
YESTERDAY'S "THE BRITISH ARE COMING": Yesterday is continuing its "The British Are Coming!" show at the Liverpool Club theater in the Tropicana Hotel Casino, Atlantic City, NJ 8:30 p.m. Saturdays through Thursdays. They will also be performing March 20 in Naples, Florida, March 22 in Las Vegas, NV, March 27 in Allentown,PA., April 4 in Long Island, N.Y., April 9 in Sarnia, Canada, April 16 in Fort Smith, Ark. and April 17 in Marion, VA. In addition, Yesterday opens The British Are Coming! in the west at Harrah's Hotel Casino in Reno, NV from April 1-26. Their website is here.
