There have been several versions of Willie Nelson's Christmas song"Pretty Paper," but the best known is Roy Orbison's version, seen above, and also posted on the official Roy Orbison site. Veteran music writer Chet Flippo tells the story of how Nelson was inspired by seeing a handicapped street peddler to write the song in a column on CMT.com.
"Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue. Wrap your presents to your darling from you. Pretty pencils to write 'I love you.' Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue."
Merry Christmas!
