What Batman title will Fabian write?

Could Stephanie be the new Batgirl?

Many Batman fans, myself included, really enjoyed Fabian Nicieza's run on Robin. I wasn't expecting to love the writing of someone who was replacing Chuck Dixon, but his run on the series was one of greatest comic runs in recent history. Naturally, many of us were disappointed when the creative teams were announced for the June Batbooks, and Fabian's name was not one of them.

News from the Emerald City Comicon seems to indicate that Fabian will be on a Batbook after all. The report over on Comic Bloc Forums says "Fabian Nicieza will be writing a Bat title, but it will be later this summer".

DC announced a Batgirl ongoing which was suppose to come out in June, but it was surprisingly absent from the June solicitations. We don't know anything about the creative team and it's now looking like the series won't hit the shelves until July.

Fabian will be writing a Batbook not coming out until later summer and Batgirl will be coming out later summer and we haven't heard the creative team yet. Is anybody else starting to put two and two together?

Some have speculated that the unannounced ongoing Fabian will have is Azreal, since he is writing the mini-series. I don't see DC Comics taking a chance on giving this new character an ongoing series, especially with all the other new Batbooks they are launching. It's most likely at this point that Fabian will be writing Batgirl.

This also leads into some "who is Batgirl" speculation, which we've gone over before. Many people thought DC was being mum on the creative team behind the new series because that might give away their plans. For example, if Kevin VanHook had been announced as the Batgirl writer, many would assume Barbara will be regaining the mantle based on the fact that Kevin is penning Barbara's current adventures in the "Oracle: The Cure" mini-series.

How does Fabian fit in with this theory? Many people enjoyed the Stephanie Brown/Spoiler he wrote during his "Robin" run. Stephanie is also being featured in "Gotham Gazette", written by Fabian. She has given up her Spoiler identity in that title.

Creatively speaking, why would she give up her Spoiler identity? She was just brought back from the dead, only to be put into the sidelines? This makes us wonder if there are plans for her. Batgirl plans. The pieces are starting to come together.
