The Oakland A's continues to produce young talent, with their latest project nabbing honors on Monday.
A''s closer Andrew Bailey earned the title American League Rookie of the Year wiith a stellar season, posting 26 saves and six wins.
Bailey is the third A's player in the past six years to pick up the first-year honor. On Monday, he joined Bobby Crosby (2004) and Huston Street (2005) as recent A's winners.
Bailey, who had 91 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings, got first-place votes on 13 of the 28 ballots cast. His 88 total points in voting easily topped Texas Ranger shortstop Elvis Andrus' 65 points and Detroit Tiger pitcher Rick Porcello's 64 points.
The 25-year-old Bailey's 26 saves set an Oakland rookie record. He also was selected for the American League All-Star team this year.
Seven A's have won the Rookie of the Year Award.
