7 Things I Believe About This Baseball Post-Season

I BELIEVE I’m glad I was ill most of the past several weeks … took the sting out of the inglorious end to the Red Sox season.

I BELIEVE the Angels still are playing for Nick Adenhart and will force the ALCS to return to New York.

I BELIEVE Alex Rodriguez has permanently broken his poor post-season ways, however, and that he and Mark Teixiera will carry the Yankees to victory. 

I BELIEVE the latter will please television executives no end because they secretly are terrified by the prospect of an all-LA Series, which would necessitate either very early starts (according to West Coast clocks) or very late ones (in the East) in order to broadcast somewhere in prime time.

I BELIEVE Ryan Howard is the next Vladimir Guerrero as a game-changer and tabloid-avoider.

I BELIEVE Manny Ramirez is the next Frank Thomas in terms of career arc.

I BELIEVE Jason Bay is the next Yankee left fielder, unless (a) he actually isn’t all about the money, or (b) the Sox realize they’re better off overspending for the Bay they know than the Matt Holliday they don’t.
