Eleven people bartenders should follow on twitter right now

My twitter page--and yes, you should follow me!

Twitter is a funny beast.

When used successfully, twitter is an amazing marketing and networking tool. Once you've built credibility, you can do almost anything with it. You can get information, you can talk to celebrities--hell, you could probably even get yourself a new job.

When used unsuccessfully, you can make yourself look like a complete idiot.

So, how can you use it successfully as a bartender, or even as someone who is simply obsessed with cocktails?

Trade recipes, find recipes, find new liquors, get in contact with distributors or even the actual distilleries and brewers, find new restaurants, find ideas, and most importantly--learn something.

Whether you've just now opened a Twitter account, or you've had one for a good long while, as a cocktail enthusiast in Austin, you must follow these people. Today.

@jeffmorgen: Jeffrey Morgenthaler

Jeffrey Morgenthaler is a veteran bartender who helps Imbibe Magazine with their podcast, Imbibe Sips. His blog is engaging, interesting, and incredibly witty.

@Everydaydrinker: Derrick Schommer

Derrick Schommer stars in his podcasts called "Common Man Cocktails." He not only works with a lot of different recipes, he has tasted a lot of different liquors and he has excellent connections.

@Cocktailsguide: Colleen Graham

Colleen Graham writes about cocktails for About.com.

@Dogfishbeer: Dogfish Head Brewery

While Dogfish Head Brewery is out of Delaware, they still tweet about relevant, interesting events all around the country. And they travel to Austin quite often.

@eatdrinkaustin: Eat Drink Austin

Info on happenings in bars and restaurants around Austin.

@edibleaustin: Jenna Noel

Edible Austin Magazine is almost always totally about food, but it focuses on local, high-quality, sustainable, and fresh. All bartenders should be aware of what grows and sells in their town.

@intoxicologist: Cheri Loughlin

"The Intoxicologist is in" is an excellent resource, and Cheri Loughlin is also the Omaha Drinks Examiner

@KevinZraly: Kevin Zraly

Kevin is the wine guy, what can I say. Excellent tweets about wine for beginners and experts.

@livethelushlife: Lush Life

While most of her tweets are centered around New York City, she tweets about liquors, beers, drink recipes, contests, and online news. Excellent tweets.

@margaritatexas: Margarita Texas

You'd be remiss, living in Austin, to not follow Margarita Texas. Who doesn't like information on Margaritas?

@TipsyTexan: The Tipsy Texan

Fresh, local, interesting ingredients in well thought out cocktails. An excellent resource.

    You know Mike, I was trying to stay away from Tequila on this list, but I think I'll have to do another one about who Tequila enthusiasts should follow.
