The deck surrounding the future Durham location of Tobacco Road Sports Cafe was full of spectators for the Bulls' season opener on Thursday - but the restaurant itself has yet to open its doors. At game time Thursday evening, the windows of the space perched behind the Durham Bulls Athletic Park's "Blue Monster" were covered, and no indication was given of the projected opening date for the eatery.
The latest post on the official Tobacco Road blog - dated April 4th - shows off completed paint, floors, and bar, while promising an opening that "shouldn't be long after" the season opener against the Norfolk Tides. Beyond that, details are a bit hard to find, but the blog does mention that the restaurant is hiring for every position except bartender.
Tobacco Road will be the fourth option for sit-down dining in the area surrounding the DBAP and Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), joining Tyler's Taproom, Mellow Mushroom, and Cuban Revolution.
