Rumors of a Carolina Ale House location in Raleigh's Glenwood South entertainment district have been swirling since 2009, when Ale House parent LM Restaurants purchased the property at 500 Glenwood South. At the time, though, LM owner Lou Moshakos had four other Ale House locations in the wings, postponing the developing of what will be the Triangle's seventh location.
This week, the project got a kickstart as Moshakos announced that Smith 2 Architecture's Frank Smith will lead the design team for the complex. 500 Glenwood South will be anchored by the rooftop Carolina Ale House and feature a Mediterranean eatery specializing in tapas and an extensive wine list. Moshakos is also considering a downtown Raleigh first - a baquet facility that could accommodate up to 250.
Demolition of the current property on the site will take place over the summer, making way for the new construction set to begin this fall.
