In March, many Raleigh residents were taken by surprise at the abrupt closing of Alibi bar and its purchase by the owners of Kings Barcade, the indie-music landmark that closed its doors in 2007. The owners, who are reopening Kings as a three-story entertainment complex, are making great progress and have already completed the first phase of the transformation.
Neptune's Parlour, the downstairs bar in the space formerly occupied by Alibi Bar, opened its doors this past Friday night. In teasers on the Facebook page, the bar staff touted Neptune's as "phase one in the return of Kings Royal Barcade to downtown Raleigh," along with a few photos of the almost-psychedelic decor (don't miss the huge silhouette of the oceanic deity adorning the wall).
According to New Raleigh, the top-floor music venue, Kings proper, will open in late July. The street-level restaurant, to be named The Garland, should open later this year - but no solid date has been set at this time.

I've been to Neptunes about five or six times already, and had a blast each time- the DJ is always on point. Can't wait for Kings to open!
