Durham's newest sports bar and restaurant, Tobacco Road Sports Cafe, finally opened its doors on Tuesday of this week, and has already started to make a name in the Durham charity scene. First, Tobacco Road asked for readers' favorite local charity to benefit from its $50 donation per Bulls home run. Now, the restaurant is playing host to an after-work social for Band Together, a group that aims to raise funds and awareness for local charities through concerts and other musical events.
The social, sponsored by Hosted Solutions, is designed to spread the word about the group's Main Event -featuring Michael Franti & Spearhead - scheduled for May 22nd at Raleigh's Lincoln Theatre. Band Together holds similar socials on a monthly basis, but this will be the first to be held in Durham.
Thursday's event at Tobacco Road will run from 7-10pm and features free appetizers, drink specials, and discounted tickets to the Main Event. Starting at 9pm on the patio, the Transit Vocal Band a cappella group will also perform.
Attendance is open to the public, but an RSVP is requested. You can find more details about the social and RSVP here.
