Refurbished and renamed, The Local 269 recently opened as another neighborhood bar. There’s nothing fancy about this place and it never claims to be anything more. Grab a beer or cocktail, hang with friends and be able to hear one another: simple enough. There shouldn’t be any expectations of the bar aside from decent service and a relaxed environment to enjoy a nice cold drink. They do this just fine here with laid-back and attentive bartenders.
According to other reviews, there’s a 2-for-1 deal going on from 2pm until 9pm, but it looks more like 2-for-$10 on a random night visited. Whatever the deal is, any discounts are welcome. In the corner of the room, there’s a small stage and hopefully some local talent is featured; it’s difficult to envision a DJ in the space, but anything’s possible. On the jukebox, there’s an array of local singer/songwriters, which is always welcome. There’s something just right about a place like this where hanging out is drama free.
The intentions of The Local 269 are great: neighborhood bar welcomes and supports the businesses and talents nearby. Nothing catchy, flashy and void of any beer snobbery. Simply enjoy your friends, neighbors and drinks. And some times, simplicity is perfect.
