Fort Worth area Fourth of July festivities

The Rangers are hosting Tampa Bay in a three game series starting Friday night. Fireworks shows will be on both Friday and Saturday nights after the game. Games start at 7:05.

The Fort Worth Cats are playing a series with the Pensacola Pelicans over the holiday weekend. Each night, Friday through Sunday, the stadium will host a fireworks show after the game. Games start at 7:05 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6:05 p.m. on Sunday.

Fort Worth’s Fourth event is a free event sponsored by the city. It will be held along the Trinity behind La Grave field. Live music is sponsored by 95.9 The Ranch. Family activities including bounce houses, jet ski shows, pony rides and photo-ops. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin after the Cats game.

Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra is hosting a celebration fireworks show after each concert at the Botanic Gardens. The concert will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday night starting at 8 p.m. The concert series will perform patriotic songs. Lawn seating starts at $15.

Fred’s Texas Cafe is having a "Wet n Wild" July 4th party. Events include: slip n slide contests for kids (12 and under) at 3 p.m., women’s at 8 p.m. and men’s at 7 p.m.; Watermelon eating contest kids (12 and under) at 2 p.m., adults at 4:30 p.m.; fundraiser dunk tank benefiting Dennis Cornwall’s Trinity Trail bench; beer belly contest at 9 p.m.; Bikini contest at 9:30 p.m.; fireworks at 10 p.m. There is no cover all day and a DJ all night.

Lone Star Park will have fireworks after the races Friday and Saturday. Live music will be performed by Incognito on Friday and Maiden Texas on Saturday after the fireworks show.

Fourth of July Wine Trail in Grapevine is Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $45 pre-sale. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The tickets include three tastings and a food sample at each participating winery, crystal wine glass, and a select bottle of wine. Stay late on July 4th for the fireworks show over Lake Grapevine.

The "Winged Modified and Fireworks" event will be held in Kennedale at the Cowtown Speedway. Races start at 7 p.m. General admission is $15. The fireworks show commences after the final race.

Burleson 4th of July Celebration and fireworks will be held at the Hidden Creek Sports Complex. The entertainment is a Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison tribute band which begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. Gates open at 5 p.m. There will be a fireworks show after the band.

Elephiesta Independence Day Party at White Elephant Saloon is all day Saturday, starting at noon.  The admission is free. Sixteen bands are slated to perform. No fireworks show is planned, but you may be able to catch a glimpse of some of the other fireworks shows if you step outside.

    Shame on you for the 12 o'clock fire works...people waited and kids were in bed when you did fire the first cracker.... why couldn't you have post-poned the over time until AFTER the works? Next year.. will you just say forget it? Think about other people besides the CATS!!!

    My 2 year old grandson had to go to bed without seeing the fireworks. We finally decided to leave at 11:00. So you actually did the fireworks on 7/5/09. Completely insane!!! Next year I will go to a surrounding city for their fireworks. At least theirs was at a decent time.

    I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the fireworks after the Cats game. I do not represent the FW Cats. I just listed the fireworks events in the area. :(
