One way or another, catch Blondie's free concert
Fan of female rockers, rejoice; there will be a healthy dose of girl power given free of charge, courtesy of Blondie and Pat Benatar! These iconic artists, along with special guests the Donnas, are performing at the Seaside Summer Concert Series in Brooklyn on Thursday, August 13 at 7:30 pm.
Those who are old enough to remember the late '70s or early '80s can fondly recall Blondie, led by pouty-lipped frontwoman Debbie Harry, bursting onto the scene. Those of us who haven't been around that long are nonetheless familiar with such enduring hits as "One Way or Another," "Call Me," or "Rapture," which reflect a diverse mix of musical styles. And who can forget Pat Benatar, the feisty pixie who rocked out to tough numbers like "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" but also showed range with ballads like "Love Is a Battlefield." Veteran hard rockers the Donnas will open the concert.
If you're worried that this is too good to be true, don't be. The show will take place in Asser Levy Park on W. 5th St and Surf Ave in Coney Island, across the street from the New York Aquarium. You can bring a chair or you can try to score a $5 rental, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. It's gonna be a great party. Rock on!
