If you are looking to get the ultimate BBQ experience without pulling out the old grill, then check out some of the events coming to the Bay State (or nearby) in the month of June.
Boston’s very own Adelman Brothers of Phantom Gourmet host their annual BBQ Beach Party this year taking place in two locations; the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Casino and Resort in Connecticut (about 1 hour away from Boston), June 19th –June 21st. And at East Boston’s Suffolk Downs, June 26th –June 28th. Tickets for both events are only $5.00 if purchased ahead of time and $10.00 at the door; this does not include the purchase of food and beverages. This event brings the best of the country’s professional cuers to the New England area. Beach sand, mechanical bull rides, Michelob Beer, and lots and lots of food from local vendors rounds out this festival.
Another annual event that is coming to the New England area, is the Rock-n-Rib Festival in Merrimack N.H. at the Anheuser-Busch factory. Sponsored by the Nashua New Hampshire Rotary Club, this ribfest is in its seventh year and counting. Aside from having some of the best cue in the country, this event also includes a barbecue cook-off, ribbers gather at this event to square off against one another for a grand prize and a year full of bragging rights. There is something for everyone including music, balloon rides, beer, and a host of kid friendly activities. Event will be taking place on June 19th through June 21st. Tickets are just $5.00 at the door, this does not include the purchase of food, beverages or activities. Merrimack N.H is only about 45 minutes away from Boston.
If you do not want to take the ride to New Hampshire and you want to avoid the long lines at these events, then, you are in luck. Jake’s Dixie Roadhouse of Waltham hosts its annual festival on June 22nd. The Battle of the Bones brings local rib joint owners to Jake’s to showoff their best ribs. And guess what? You get to get in on the action. The winner is judged by local patrons that means you get to sample each and every bone and give your feedback on who has the best.
And of course you can not forget about Dad, these events run right through Father’s Day weekend.
