Meet Bobby and Judi Chapman, a.k.a. "The Dancing Chapmans," an Orlando-based professional ballroom dance couple who have developed a reputation for making friends on and off the dance floor wherever they go. The couple met in 1990 in a dance studio, got married in 1991, and have been teaching social ballroom dancing ever since.
Today, "The Dancing Chapmans" have built a great business out of helping people enjoy their experiences on the dance floor in several ways. Not only do they teach social ballroom dancing, but they also are professional DJs, specializing in weddings and corporate events. One of the benefits to having a ballroom dancer as a DJ is that they can also teach mini-dance lessons during the event, which helps the guests to get over their shyness and get on the dance floor. Some of the better wedding receptions typically involve some sort of assistance from professional ballroom dancers, including the type of music that is played. The Chapmans pride themselves on their father/daughter dances as well.
Currently, the Chapmans are teaching East Coast Swing, at the Maitland Senior Center as a group class that continues in a series of progressive levels throughout 2010. They also teach private lessons in the other major ballroom dances, and they specialize in teaching couples and fathers/daughters how to dance together for wedding receptions.
