One of Orlando's most outstanding young Swing-dance couples has recent reasons to celebrate. Chad Adams and Kelly North, although they have only been dancing since 2008, recently managed to capture the titles of Swing Dance USA 2010 Jitterbug Champions, 2010 Lindy Champions, and 2010 Balboa Swing Runners-up. Chad and Kelly have participated in Swing workshops and events worldwide, including Orlando, Los Angeles, N. Carolina, Germany, Georgia, and St. Petersburg. The couple recently performed in front of over 300 people with Orlando ballroom professionals, Michael Dean and Patty Holden, for the USA Dance "Great Gatsby" charity ball. The two couples performed an exciting vintage dance show, including the Shag, Lindy-Hop, Peabody, Charleston, and Balboa Swing styles from the 1920's and 1930's, to help raise money for the Shriner's Hospital.
Chad and Kelly's favorite styles of Swing dance are the Lindy-Hop, Charleston, Balboa, and Shag, and the couple can usually be found at Swing dances on weekends in the Orlando area. Not hard to spot, they are the ones who unintentionally draw attention to themselves with outstanding Swing skills combined with the “look” of a Swing-dance couple! And as if being some of Orlando’s best Swing dancers was not enough, Chad and Kelly are as friendly and fun to be around as they appear to be in photos of them dancing.
Swing dancing, with its birth in Harlem during the late 1920’s, has proven itself to be a timeless art of joy, fun, and happiness. It encourages weight loss, aerobic stamina, and is extremely energizing. In many cases, it is romantic as well. Like most dancing couples, Chad and Kelly met on the dance floor. Like many lucky dancing couples that find each other through dancing, they will be dancing Swing at their wedding in October of 2010. The couple now teaches Swing dancing, and they are available for vintage era entertainment/shows at conventions, private parties, or any other function that needs a good kick of excitement. Chad is also a Swing DJ, and can take your function to a whole new level with some of the greatest music ever recorded!
