Do you think that you are one of the top bakers in California? There are many local events showcasing talented cooks. The summer season of county fairs is a great way to begin competing with your favorite bread, cake, or cookie recipe. The Marin County Fair is currently accepting entry forms for the 2009 culinary competitions. Both adult and junior divisions are available for nearly every sweet confection you can imagine. In 2008, the Marin County Fair was named the "Greenest County Fair on Earth." It's easy to participate this year.
- What: Marin County Fair
- When: July 1 - 5
- Where: Marin Civic Center, San Rafael
- Who: All residents of California

The small entry fee means this is the perfect opportunity for new bakers to try their hand at competition. Between the Special Culinary Contests and the Baked Foods category, there is a class for every baker to enter. Enter your old favorite, or start working on something new. The division lists can spark inspiration -- for instance, under the "California Cheesecake" category is a class requiring the use of at least one cheese made in Marin County.
Entry forms are available on the Marin County Fair website and must be submitted by Thursday, May 14th. Every category of baked good is represented in this competition. Polish up your favorite recipe now!
