In his conference call with the media, Jake Pavelka commented on his early acting career, which included a guest spot on Walker, Texas Ranger. Yes, that's right ladies. Jake Pavelka played the "young Chuck Norris."
"I was taking theater in high school," Pavelka said, "and the girl that I was dating was involved in the Miss America pageants. This was, gosh, 15 years ago. She had an agent, and I went with her one day to drop off some paperwork, and he saw me and said, 'Hey, I've got a Channel 5 promotion that I got a fax on, would you consider doing it over the next couple of days?'
"So I did it, and it was a lot of fun, you know. Pads your pocketbook a little bit at 17 years old. So I got an agent that way. One day I was sitting in high school, right before I graduated, and he paged me that down there on the Walker set, I guess they had let go of the 'young Walker.' They needed the shot tomorrow to make the show out on time, so I should go down there and audition.
"I went down there, and evidently I am the same height as Chuck Norris... you know, with the tape on the wall. And it just fit perfectly! So that's how I got into it, and it was a really special time in my life to get to do something crazy like that."
But it wasn't long before Jake Pavelka traded acting for flying, a career that filled him with excitement.
