latchOn blanket clips help make nursing in public effortless

Green and brown circles, lined in minky fabric

As far as I'm concerned, one of the benefits of breastfeeding is that there is less stuff to carry when leaving the house, and less important stuff to forget because the most important thing (food!) is always with me. This is also nice because the diaper bag I'm currently using was handmade...by me (read: very poor quality), and the more stuff I pack in there the less time it's going to last me before it comes apart at the seams. This makes extras in my bag a precarious situation. The latchOn by the Botton Barn was created by two moms who realized that more was not always better when it came to carrying things for their babies (although I'm going to bet that a handmade diaper bag was not part of their problem).

Brown with pink and white dots, lined in cotton

The latchOn is so simple that when I first saw it I almost said "brilliant" out loud. Basically, it's a strip of fabric with a clip at each end that you can use to hold whatever blanket you already have with you over your nursing baby. Of course, with the specatcular fabrics and adorable clips the Botton Barn uses, it's much more than that.

I have the Blue and Brown Geometric print latchOn lined in blue minky fabric. It is nice and wide, making in really comfortable on your neck. Don't let the cute daisy clips fool you, they are really strong and will have a good grip on the blanket. The fabric they chose is perfect - the bold geometric print on one side, and the softest minky on the other. Seriously, when I put the minky against my neck I was in heaven. I have already emailed the Button Barn to say that I think they should make matching blankets - I know it kind of defeats the purpose of the "clip to anything" idea, but the material is really that soft.

When folded up, the latchOn takes up about as much space as a compact, and would probably fit in most pacifier holders to make it easy to find in your bag. It is light, comforatble, and easy to use. It is made by moms who understand what features would be needed in a product like this and have thought of everything, including offering a second style lined in cotton instead of minky for nursing in hot weather. The latchOn makes a perfect shower gift, and would even be cute clipped around another package like a ribbon.
