Bummis is the North American distributor for a brand of diapers manufactured in Glasgow, Scotland called Tots Bots. I consider them a bit of a hybrid between All in One and Pocket diapers - the diaper is all one piece, with the extra absorbancy coming from a long liner that is stuffed inside just like a pocket diaper. The benefits? No extra soaker pads to lose, but the same fast drying of a pocket diaper. Win, win!
The liner is two layers, one polyester and one rayon made from Bamboo fibers. According to their website, the bamboo fibers absorb wetness 70% faster than cotton, keeping the pee in the liner where it belongs and away from the sides where leaks happen. I have no ability to gauge whether the 70% number is correct, but I can certainly say that I've never had a leak in this diaper, not even during naps. The bamboo fabric is very soft, and I love that it is manufactured in a closed-loop system to recycle water and chemical output - sustainibility and environmentally friendly fabrics are very important to this company.

Bummis use a velcro closure and of all the ones I've tried, I'm pretty sure this one is my favorite. The velcro is substantial without being too stiff, and you can simply fold over the tabs when you wash to keep fibers out of the sticky part of the velcro. Most velcro closure diapers offer some version of a "laundry tab" like this, but this is the one that seems to work the best. After many uses there is nothing to pick out of the velcro at all, keeping it just as effective as the first time he wore it.
The rise is adjustable with snaps, which are nice and snug and don't come apart on me. They come in the "Easy Fit" version which says it will fit from 8-35lbs, and a "Tiny Fit" for smaller babies, sized from 5-12lbs. The fit of this diaper is also one of my favorites, it's nice and trim without sacrificing absorbancy.
Add all of these details to the fantastic bright colors they come in and you have a winning diaper!
