Must-have products to protect kids from the sun

Summer is upon us which means more time spent outdoors. Trips to the park, bike rides, lazy days by the pool and other outdoor adventures can lead to sunburns, which can potentially lead to skin cancer. It is the parent’s responsibility to make sure their kids are protected against the harmful rays of the sun.

A new study shows that although parents are aware that sun exposure is dangerous, kids wearing sunscreen spend much more time in the sun than kids who don't, even though sunscreen provides only partial protection. What's more, many parents still emphasize the importance of that tanned look.

There are many products that can help parents protect their children. Shady Day SPF 30 Sun Protection Wipes provide a convenient, mess free to apply sunscreen to children. These wipes are an especially nice way to apply sunscreen to babies and children’s faces. They are designed for the entire body with an absorbent formula leaving the skin feeling dry and smooth.

It’s important to apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you are planning to head out in the sun and applying it before the swim suits go on helps to make sure all areas of the body are protected. To be extra protected put kids in UV protected swimwear, hats and shoes from Alex and Me Company. Feet and ears are the body parts most often missed when applying sunscreen, so double the protection by using UV protected products.

Don’t forget children’s eyes when getting them ready to go out in the sun. If they get use to wearing sunglasses at an early age, then they will be introduced to an excellent habit that can protect them for years to come. Baby Banz is the first complete infant and child UV apparel and eyewear manufacturer to be endorsed by the Melanoma International Foundation. They have sunglasses for infants, toddlers, kids and adults along with hats, swimwear and sunscreen. Baby Banz were originally designed in Australia, one of the world’s toughest UV environments.

Parents are not applying enough sunscreen to their children and they are relying on sunscreen too much. There is no way to over protect children from the sun’s harmful rays unless they are kept inside the house during the daylight hours. Good luck trying that form of protection!
