Bermuda offers special “Spring College Reunion Week” for Boomers

Boston Baby Boomers, here's something special for you. This March,  the Bermuda Department of Tourism is offering a blast from the past. In fact, Baby Boomers from across the country are invited to take "a stroll down memory lane" in Bermuda, with three full days of celebratory events, top-notch dining and a range of activities".

The Bermuda Baby Boomer Reunion is “designed to capture the youthful spirit and excitement of the island's famed College Weeks from the 1960s and 1970s," according to recently released press materials.

Even if you never attended a Bermuda College Week, this special Baby Boomer event may still capture your fancy. After all, who can resist the beauty, romance and adventure of this lovely island and one doesn't need to be a college student to enjoy a "spring break."

Bermuda College Week Reunion from March 15 through March 18 offers special deals

Bermuda's College Week Reunion will begin on Thursday, March 15 and wrap up on Sunday, March 18. Dedicated hotel packages start at just $597.50 per person. These packages will also include three-day event passes, which provide access to each of the planned "commemorative gatherings" along with transportation to and from visitors' hotels, according to press materials.

Bermuda offers Spring Break for adults this March

After a long, cold winter, we all can use a a little sun and fun.  Though we Boomers may not have the same beach bodies that we once had, who cares? We still know how to party.

"The College Week Reunion" will be a great way for those who may have visited Bermuda during the heyday of their youth to come back and enjoy the island as an adult," said The Hon. Wayne L. Furbert, JP, MP, Minister of Business Development and Tourism in a press release.

"We felt it was about time that adults get to experience their own grown-up Spring Break in a setting that fits their desires for a relaxing, sophisticated experience."

Here is the line up of events for the Boomer Spring Break in Bermuda:

  • On March 15, the festivities will begin at sunset with poolside cocktails followed by a dinner party at Bermuda's only French restaurant, Beau Rivage, Guests will see great views of Hamilton Harbor before the party proceeds to Leau Bar at Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort and Spa from 10 p.m. to Midnight.
  • Boomers are also invited to enjoy “a nostalgic Booze Cruise” and lunch aboard the MV Lady Tamara. The day will conclude with an after party at The Cellar at Fairmont Southampton, a favorite nightlife spot for locals and visitors alike.
  • On Saturday evening, the Reunion will come to a close with guests once again having a chance to reminisce with old friends and new at a BBQ dinner and party at the Fairmont Southampton Beach Club.

The island of Bermuda is located just under two hours from most East Coast gateway cities. This beautiful island stretches for 21 miles along turquoise waters and is surrounded by a 200-square-mile coral reef plateau. Bermuda offers plenty of great beaches, including the famous  pink sand beaches.

In general. accomodations range from luxury resorts to intimate guest cottages and family-run inns. They all  have a touch of the sophistication and hospitality unique to the "Bermuda experience." The island offers more than 150 restaurants to fit any traveler's budget. Dining ranges from simple and inexpensive to elegant and special events.

Bermuda's also has many different activities and vacation options all year round. They include "more wreck dives than anywhere else in the world, more golf per square mile than anywhere else in the world, world-renowned deep sea fishing, world-class spas and smooth pink beaches," according to press materials.
