Both Virgin America and AirTran Airways now offer Wi-Fi on all their flights while Delta, United, and American are scrambling to do the same on their domestic routes soon. But AirTran is the first to take sky-high Wi-Fi to a new level: Internetiquette.
Internetiquette or, "A guide to keeping everyone in line...online" now resides in the the seat pockets of all 136 AirTran jets and offers numerous tips for travelers who surf the Web, check email, or connect to on-line meetings while on high. The airline's Internet version even includes some advice from Mission Impossible star, Peter Graves.
Tip #127? Don't just strike up a conversation with your seat partner so that you can search for them on the Internet. Tip #134? The lavatory is not your personal conference room.
The airline has blocked the use of services such as Skype, however instant messaging will be permitted.
The Internetiquette guides are part of a recently-launched AirTran promotional campaign. AirTran Airways, a low-fare airline designed for business travelers evolved from ValuJet Airlines and Eastern Airlines.
Besides Wi-Fi AirTran also offers XM Satellite Radio.
