Rolls-Royce will help young pilots achieve their dreams by pledging financial support for the 2010 EAA Young Eagles Scholarship Program. Young Eagles scholarships fund flying lessons and flight experiences for deserving teenage student pilots interested in aviation and aviation careers.
In 2010, Rolls-Royce flight-training scholarships will be awarded to six students who have completed the majority of the online Sporty’s Complete Pilot Training Course. Recipients will attend an FAA-qualified flight school. Additionally, one student will receive a voucher toward flight training completion to earn a private pilot’s certificate.
“Rolls-Royce is excited to sponsor this worthy scholarship program for young aviators,” said Ken Roberts, president of helicopters at Rolls-Royce. “EAA Young Eagles represents education, aviation, and passion for flight. We are proud of the students who receive these scholarships and, like them, we share a passion for aviation.”
The scholarships will be awarded throughout the year. An EAA scholarship committee chooses scholarship winners.
“The excitement and passion for flight is still very strong among young people, and these scholarships will allow them to fulfill those dreams,” said Tom Poberezny, EAA chairman/president. “Rolls-Royce understands that it’s essential to support young people trying to reach their aviation goals, and EAA very much appreciates the company’s commitment to the future of flight.”
Rolls-Royce has been a participant at EAA events for more than 20 years.

Be careful with them. Are you aware that Rolls Royce paid millions of Dollars a year in secret corruption and slush funds to help sell their aero engines to airlines that will be "advised" (or forced!) by those receiving the secret slush funds.
Just one example is that Tommy Suharto (son of the ex-Indonesian president) was given about 20 million dollars and a new blue Rolls Royce car by Rolls Royce (before he was jailed for murder!) to force the Indonesian airline Garuda to take the R-R Trent 700 engine on the A330 aircraft they were buying. They got a really bad commercial deal and the follow-on warranty and support was probably the worst any operator had ever had. When Tommy was jailed, Rolls then paid his millionaire friend, Soetikno about 1 million dollars a year! This was supported by the Rolls exec in Indonesia (Dr Mike Gray) because Mike was given "personal benefit" by Soetikno to keep the contract going.
