Since the specs were released for the 2011 Ford Mustangs with the new 3.7 and 5.0L engines, I have been chompin’ at the bit to get my hands on these new pony cars. Yesterday, the good people at Dorian Ford in Clinton Township dropped me an email telling me to stop on down and spend some time with their 2011 Mustang GT and 2011 Mustang V6. I was elated… although I drive lots of cars, I just couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel of the 2011 Mustangs.
All day yesterday it was cold, dark and dreary with a forecast of more clouds today but when I headed out for my time with the 2011 Mustangs I had a gorgeous 70 degree day and not a cloud in the sky – a perfect day to cruise around Gratiot and the surrounding areas. After the past few nasty days (or weeks) you could tell that the local gearheads were excited as Gratiot was packed full of classic and modern performance cars; a great many who clearly took notice of the new 5.0 badges of the 2011 Mustang GT.
The 2011 Ford Mustang V6 is probably the most impressive “base model” car I have driven and shy of the difference in the powerband, it is easy to forget that you are in a V6 Mustang and not a GT. As for the 2011 Ford Mustang GT…I can sum up the car in just one word – awesome. The Ford Mustang has finally gotten the power that it deserves; combining the sporty, muscular styling of the 2010-2011 Mustang with two great new engines.
