The 2010 SHO Convention takes over Ford's World HQ

Since the new Ford Taurus SHO has been introduced, an interest in Ford’s long lost performance sedan has been rekindled but not everyone forgot about the high performance variant of Ford’s popular sedan during its 10 year hiatus in production. Today, a group of the most enthusiastic SHO fans from around North America rolled into the Ford World Headquarters as part of the 19th annual SHO Convention with help from the folks from SHOClub.com and BringBackTheSHO.com.

I had some time to speak with Don Mallinson of SHOClub.com, the man who is responsible for the yearly convention with the help of his wife Jan, his sons Ken and Don Jr. and Ken’s wife, Jodie. Don explained to me that unlike many model-specific conventions that don’t permit any other vehicles to take part in the festivities, the SHO Convention is open to anyone who owns a SHO, anyone who used to own a SHO or anyone who hopes to someday own a SHO. This is a true enthusiast’s convention and while there were a variety of non-SHOs ranging from a Mazda RX-8 to Ford Mustangs to Corvettes to a Cadillac CTS-V Sedan, the Ford Taurus SHO is clearly the main attraction.

Several rows of the Ford HQ parking lot were lined with SHOs, with a great spread of very clean stock and modified Taurus SHOs from 1989 through 1999, along with the new models. The centerpiece of the today’s car SHO (see what I’ve done there?) was on the brick front patio area of the Ford Headquarters with one of each variation of the SHO across the generations. After spending a few hours allowing for lots of pictures of this massive collection of SHO models, the Dearborn police department escorted the entire crowd out of the parking lot and onto US-12 as they headed off for a special visit at the Ford Proving Grounds.

For more information on the annual SHO Convention, click here to have a look at the itinerary on SHOClub.com. The convention runs from this past Sunday until Friday, with a trip to Waterford Hills raceway on Wednesday, a visit to the Henry Ford on Thursday and a tour of Joe Louis Arena on Friday before the group heads to Ford’s Cleveland engine plant where the modern SHO engine is produced. It is an impressive collection of events for those attending the SHO Convention and for me it was incredible seeing such a huge collection of Taurus SHO models from across the generations.

Congratulations to the organizing groups for putting together an impressive 19th annual SHO Convention. Check out the gallery and video below for a taste of what today’s meeting at the Ford World Headquarters had to offer. There were SO many cars there that this small gallery doesn’t do the crowd justice but these images give you an idea of just how many SHO enthusiasts came out to the 2010 SHO Convention. Get over it Nick, it was cool 5 years ago. Nobody cares, and the SHOForum has turned into a bunch of posts about clear taillights and the Ego of NESHO.

I do believe the 2002 in question is not that of the NESHO/ST.L v8 build, but of the Quebecan/Phoenix v6 nature. If that's what you think of SHOForum, FedUpTheButt, I guess no one wants you around anyway... hell even Sach2543421435170 seems cool compared to you.

    An unaffiliate of NESHO,
