The cruising season is close upon us and with some 60 degree days last week, some of the area’s vintage cars were already on the road but for those of us finishing up winter work on our cruiser – time is running out. If you happen to be working on a General Motors show car and you are still in need of a show-quality looking engine, GM Performance Parts (GMPP) announced a new option yesterday to help speed up your project.

GMPP announced their new 350/290hp Deluxe crate engine package, (part number 19244450) with this 350 cubic inch variant of the popular “small block Chevy” offering 290 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The moving parts of this crate engine are not new to the lineup but the Deluxe portion of the package adds a high flow intake manifold and a bevy of beautiful chrome accessories like the air cleaner, timing cover and valve covers all sporting Chevrolet name and logo. This 350 can give your classic GM product a little hustle and a whole lot of style at car shows – all for under $3,000 (MSRP of $2,900). I looked around the internet a bit and found this new 350 Deluxe priced as low as $2,600 and if you want a little more power, GMPP has a variety of items like higher flowing cylinder heads to help beef up your brand new crate motor before it gets to you.

The 350/290hp Deluxe utilizes a four bolt main configuration using all new parts and it includes GMPP’s 2-years/50,000 mile warranty. It might be a little cheaper to clean up an old engine but with the low price and the fact that this engine carries a 2 year warranty (who really puts 50,000 miles on a classic car within two years?) this engine offers excellent performance and peace of mind for those classic GM owners who don’t want to spend time wrenching on an older engine.
