Toyota announces massive recall

Toyota Motor Company, the owner of the Toyota, Lexus and Scion brands of cars, announced yesterday that they are recalling almost 3.8 million vehicles.
The problem with the vehicles, according to a Toyota spokesperson, is that floor mats in the drivers side footwell can shift and press on the accelerator, leading to "unintended acceleration."
Dealers are currently suggesting that owners of the affected cars remove their driver-side floor mats, and urge them not to replace the mats until Toyota can solve the problem.
The recall was announced in the wake of a crash in San Diego which killed a family of four. Investigators announced that the faulty floor mats were to blame.
Both Lexus and Toyota vehicles were affected, while no Scion models were involved.
