Stay Tuned: Elite's LMV/R helps you lose an arm and a leg before you take it to the track

The Aston Martin Le Mans Vantage Racer (or the LMV/R for short) is supposed to be the Scuderia, GT3, and Superleggera all rolled into an Aston. At least that’s what the press release says.

The major difference? Well, all those track day bad boys are lean and mean factory-prepped demons. The LMV/R? Not so much, as it’s a package that’s been developed by Elite and is available exclusively through Exotica Motorsports. For now, though, we won’t hold that whole aftermarket thing against it because it looks so damn cool.

The LMV/R package takes your standard Vantage V8 and puts it on a tooth-grinding diet of 20-inch wheels, lowering springs, and that special lightweight automotive ingredient, carbon fiber; a lot of it too. How much? Well, the entire body kit, including the front bumper, canards, front splitter, the hood, front fenders that have been widened by 2 inches, side skirts, side skirt panels, 2-inch rear fender extensions, trunk lid, rear wing, and rear bumper with diffuser.

For the extra aural sting and on-dime stopping action there are sport mufflers and a big brake kit, which is what you get performance-wise (other than the massive weight savings). Inside the cabin there’s plenty to make your drive more aesthetically pleasing: an Alcantara interior with carbon fiber trim, while under the hood there’s a carbon fiber dress-up kit just to round out your compassionate support of the carbon fiber industry.

The parts, installation, repaint, and stripes will relieve you of 173 large ones. That’s $173,000 give or take after you order your car (the run is limited to 30 units), and it remains to be seen whether or not it’ll kill your warranty. An aftermarket track-inspired racer kit is nothing to hold against it, but $300,000+ for a full-out track-day Vantage? That’s something I will hold against it, even if it is rarer than the competition. Ferrari's Scuderia is looking better and better.
