Fast5 Week of Feb. 15: Beater of the Week, Mr. Toyota comes to Washington, Snow Plows and more

Feb. 19 -- Fast5: As the weather warms ever so slightly it's good to take a look back at some of our snow adventures. From potholes to forgotten streets and of course Mr. Toyoda, this week's Fast5 celebrates some unforgettable snow...snow jobs.

1. Why Ain't My Street Been Plowed? Proving that even in DC it's not what you know but who you know, a neighborhood in Bailey's Crossroads was left stranded for weeks by the recent snow storms. It didn't matter that residents continually called the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) a zillion times - only to be told that the street was "on a list." Nope. What did help was www.WTOP.com - just a quick phone call to VDOT and the road was cleared and resurfaced in gold bricks.  Read the story here...

2. Beater of the Week: If you really love the Peugeot Liberte, you can see through the snow and grime. Come on now. All you need to know is that it runs (to the surprise of the owner) has almost 95k miles and only costs $400. 3. Mr. Toyoda Comes to Washington:  At first he was like, um, NO. I am not going to Washington D.C. to get yelled at by some politicking Congressmen. But then news broke about the Corolla - apparently that car is driving off the road, too -- and Toyota President Akio Toyoda had a change of heart. Really - with all sincerity. In truth the man has 8 million reasons to stand up before Congress, but don't judge too harshly: Toyota, according to Bloomberg, has already lost more than $31 billion in market value since the recalls began.  More news of Toyota recalls...

4. Flying Cars Spotted in Ohio, or was that LeBron James? File this one under the been there done that category. Flying cars - it seems that every, uh, creative engineer has to build one before they go off to work for Toyota, and sure enough there's Terrafugia, a flying car company who apparently has a $4.4 million offer to move manufacturing to Dayton, OH. You can get one of your own Transition Roadable Aircraft Proof of Concept vehicle by forking over 10 grand as a deposit. Or you could take your medi and lie down for awhile. Get yours today!

5. Pothole-io: So get this straight: potholes don't talk. But they can make you scream, however, and now there are thousands of new potholes throughout DC. Thanks to the snow, there's a bunch of the little buggers, ready to take in your wheel and toss your car into a ditch. How to report a pothole...
