Jesse Jackson's Gas Guzzling SUV stolen then stripped

First Detroit mayor Dave Bing's GMC Yukon was hijacked last week, then the Rev. Jesse Jackson's rented Cadillac SUV was stolen Monday, while he was in the Motor City to promote government-funded green jobs. Police found the vehicle stripped--windows busted and rims, nowhere to be found. Reportedly, the SUV was blinged out with rims that were worth over $1,000 each.

Jackson, who led a march along with United Auto Workers President Bob King, supposedly saw nothing wrong with renting a gas guzzling SUV while at the same time pushing for green jobs. "We were promoting a car manufacturer and representing the American worker, whatever car they chose," Jackson told AOL News. "My wife has a Smart Car, but for the purposes that we were traveling, the car was -- it fit the bill."

Ironically, Rev. Jackson co-wrote a column for CNN.com with Kathleen Rogers an environmental attorney and advocate only last month and the duo co-signed on the following:

Ending the subsidies that make dirty fuels artificially cheap can spark a shift in infrastructure development, create more jobs and allow America to become more self-sufficient. The choice is clear. We can sit idly as China and Germany invest in clean energy -- a soon-to-be $8 trillion world market -- or we can step up, get Americans back in the work force and export the best clean energy vehicles and technology. We will be in the streets later this month to demand action. We can't sell out ourselves, our jobs or our children.

Hmmm...I guess some of us should practice what we preach...?

Wow! Great article "Car Chick!" I love all of your work but you really outdid yourself mixing the political with the automotive. So often politicians take stands that are contrary to their actions. I agree that if you are going to preach it, live it! Or just be quiet.
