In this busy season of shopping and dropping hints about what we want for Christmas, one local family is taking a cue from the new Matthew West song and tie-in book Give This Christmas Away. The Lane family's blog http://becausehegave.blogspot.com/ will detail their adventures this December as they seek ways each day to give and share the true spirit of Christmas with those around them. They marked the first day of December with a giveaway of the Matthew West book and the new Veggie Tales DVD Saint Nicholas, which features Matthew's new duet with Amy Grant. (video below)
Mom, Lindsay, explains the motivation for their departure from a typical Holiday Season:
"We are so bombarded this time of year with the 'I want!' attitude that it is so easy to lose sight of what this season is really about. We have a God who gave His son to us over 2000 years ago. We have a Son who gave His life so that we can live forever with Him. With such love given to us, should we not give it away also?
So, we have our family mission for the Christmas season, 2009. Pull up a chair, grab your favorite cup of coffee and join us as we give this Christmas away! Hopefully, we'll inspire you to give Christmas away this year too!"
