Reviewing Fire and Ice, a novel by J.A. Jance

J.A. Jance has once again beautifully merged the two worlds of J.P. Beaumont and Joanna Brady with her latest novel, Fire and Ice. Told from both Beaumont’s first person narrative and through Joanna’s third person narrative, readers are catapulted – with scenes reaching out to pull them in by their tip toes and keep them perched in suspense from opening line to ending punctuation.

The novel opens with Beaumont working to solve a series of six gruesome murders. Thousands of miles away, Brady finds herself investigating the homicide of an ATV park caretaker, who may be party to something more wicked than the surface of the case tries to lead her to believe.

When Beaumont catches a break in his case, he finds himself in Brady’s jurisdiction and facing the woman who once, almost, captured more than his eye’s appreciation. Joining forces, Brady and Beaumont must protect themselves and the ones they love from the outside deception that is closing in.

Jance writes such realistic characters that you can’t help but hurry alongside them as the story twists and bends. Every time the reader feels they have caught a new clue, she shakes the rug beneath them as the suspense rebuilds and the clues slip away.

Pouring mystery, humor, deceit, love and raw human emotion into the pages, Jance pulls it all together into a fast-paced and gripping tale. Prepare to lose yourself in the pages as the two willful and engaging detectives hunt to bring the killer, and justice, to their world.

Readers may also enjoy my first novel, The Bloody Deception, available at www.strategicbookpublishing.com/TheBloodyDeception.html and Amazon.com, Barnes&Noble.com etc. It is fast-paced and not for the faint-of-heart!
