  Chicago author, Theresa Banks was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago and she wrote her first piece when she was ten years old. It was for Archie Comic Books and Theresa won $25. Not bad for a young girl!

  Theresa did her undergraduate work at DePaul University and her post-graduate studies at Governor's State University. Her major was Computer Science and she used those degrees to pursue a successful career in the IT Field.

  As a child, Theresa's interest was sparked by Right On Magazine. She especially loved the pen-pals section, and actually corresponded with some. She actually had a pen-pal who resided in Africa.

  Theresa also developed another love, writing. And with her strong entrepreneurial drive she decided to roll
up her sleeves and enter the self-publishing arena. Theresa has self-published 4 books. The titles include;
Woman Of Integrity, Becoming a Published Author, BARRENhood and Surviving A Lay-Off. Theresa like many authors shares life lessons with her readers coupled with a sense of helping mankind.

  She learned early on that a facet to being successful in self-publishing area is determination. She says
there's no greater sense of satisfaction than that of working on and completing a book from cover-to-cover.

  One of the most satisfying aspect of writing for Theresa is meeting other authors during her travels, and sharing her wisdom regarding self-publishing.

  Theresa won the 2009 Novel to Film Competition sponsored by Moopy Vision Films and two of her books,
Becoming a Published Author and Surviving A Lay-Off will be converted to short films. Theresa has also won Sormag's (Shades of Romance Magazine) 2009 Reader's Choice Award for Non-Fiction Book Of The Year and Self-published Non-Fiction Book Of The Year.

  She would like her writing legacy to be that of her non-fiction books outliving her fiction ones and hopes her
readership will realize that helping mankind is a most worthy mission.

  Theresa's readers would be surprised to learn that she is still in touch with her inner child self. She owns dolls, stuffed animals, and likes folding origami.

  Theresa's future goals include teaching additional classes for the self-publishing novice and completing book
#5 by the end of 2010.

  Visit Theresa on the internet at www.myspace.com/ellacec. Theresa will be participating in the 2nd Annual
Woman's Expo and Conference on Friday, March 12th at South Suburban College located at 15800 South State
Street in South, Holland IL. The event will take place between 7:45 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Theresa will speak on
Being A Self-Published Author.
