- Q: Do you see a lot more people investing in fine art and antiques because of the recent instability of Wall St.?
- A: Not really, overall business is starting to pick back up but for awhile everyone was holding onto their money and not spending at all.
- Q: What advice could you give someone who is looking at auction purchases strictly as investment opportunities?
- A: This is a great time to invest, prices overall are lower then they were a couple of years ago and historically fine art and antiques have a better return then any stocks.
- Q: How would that advice be different for folks looking to decorate their homes, or for other personal reasons?
- A: Why pay 3500.00 for a new living room set when you can get one like new for $800.00 at auction. With todays economy people have a great opportunity to save money on decorating their home.
- Q:. Is this auction offered online?
- A: Yes, you can bid live at www.artfact.com and view our catalog at www.nadeausauction.com
- Q: I've noticed that you are listed on Auctionzip.com, can you mention a couple of way's that's helped your auctions?
- A: Auctionzip has been phenomenal! The amount of traffic that goes to auctionzip is really incredible. We polled our customers and approx. 60% of them said that they look for our auction listings on auctionzip. They no longer watch for us in the local papers, its all online now.
- Q: Your auction house is a family run business, why do you think that's important in business today?
- A: You are guaranteed personal service. This is not just a job for us, it is our family business which makes it more important to us that our customers are satisfied and treated well.
- Q: Nadeau's auction has set some world records for prices in antiques an fine art, can you give me a couple of examples? We have set records for several different items including Connecticut made antiques, Margolis furniture which is a Hartford CT furniture maker from the 1950’s, artwork done by C.E. Porter who was a Hartford CT artist. Many of these great items are listed in our highlights page on our website.
- Q: Your website has an impressive amount of information. One thing I was very surprised at, is how open your company is with figures and statistics on things like attendance capacity, average auction gross incomes etc, why is this a good policy for Nadeau's Auction Gallery?
- A: We are very proud of how much we have grown since opening in the early 1980’s. We are one of the fastest growing auction galleries in New England. Showing our auction results lets us stand out from the average auction house and having numerous stats shows that its not just a one time happening, we consistently have important auctions with great items.
- Q: How many people on average attend your Saturday morning auctions? 100 - 150
