Michael Pearl of No Greater Joy Ministries posted on his Facebook page yesterday that he is laughing at his critics and once again defended his advice for parents to use "the Biblical rod" to train their children, despite the recent death of a child whose parents followed his teachings.

In a lengthy diatribe on his Facebook fan page, he wrote that he and his family are all laughing at the "caustic critics" who have come out against him after the death of Lydia Schatz.  He writes that children who are disciplined according to his methods "...become the models of self-control and discipline... that pay the taxes your children will receive in entitlements."

He further writes that the honest mechanics, good doctors, bosses and psychologists that his critics' children will need as adults will all be people who have grown up being disciplined according to his methods.

He says that he and his grown children are laughing at critics and even his grandchildren:

"My granddaughters laugh with joy after giving their baby dolls a spanking for “being naughty” because they know their dolls will grow up to be the best mamas and daddies in the world—just like them."

He finishes his post, saying:

"Even my chickens are laughing . . . well, actually it more like cackling, because they just laid another organic egg for my breakfast and they know that it was that same piece of ¼ inch plastic supply line that trained the dogs not to eat chicken."

No Greater Joy Ministries has nearly 5,000 Facebook fans, many of whom congratulated and thanked Pearl after his post.

What a bunch of nasty, nasty, unChristian things to say. And he shows no pity or sadness about the death of the child. This quote is especially offensive: 'He writes that children who are disciplined according to his methods "...become the models of self-control and discipline... that pay the taxes your children will receive in entitlements."' Wow, what kind of arrogance and self-righteousness is that? His children will be workers and ours will be living off entitlements? Sounds like he has a conservative victim complex.

Another Facebook page is Why-Not-Train-a-Child, a page for mothers to speak out against the damage done by Pearl's method and to find more information about it.

Isnt it illegal to beat a dog, even if it isn't to beat a child? Facebook posts can be used in a court of law. Just this year a kid that was accused of burglary was found innocent because it was proven that at the time of the crime he posted a feed update on facebook.

Maybe send this article to the ASPCA or PETA.

The more I read about this story the more my heart breaks. This is so awful. I just want to cry every time I read something new.
I am glad more and more people are speaking out about this.
I just wanted to point everyone to an excellent response to Pearl’s awful “laughter” that Vyckie Garrison at No Longer Quivering has written.(nolongerquivering dot com)

More and more reasons why spanking aka HITTING children should be banned full stop , period everywhere. It teaches nothing but hate and violence. I am 56 and I know it killed the relationship between my parents and I for good - my parents lost my respect, love and trust from the first time and never regained it. I don't respect anyone who hits another person being adult OR child, or an animal. As for the Pearls .. it's about time they were shut down. So many children are being beaten right this minute by foolish parents following their disgusting and vile unloving methods instead of their own hearts. It's a crime. And if it isn't .. it sure should be!!

I think his arrogance alone makes him dangerous. I feel he should be charged with criminal facilitation to commit child abuse. After all he is promoting a method of child discipline that resulted in not one, but two deaths that I'm aware of so far. I wonder if he'd be laughing then. We all know what happens to child abusers in jail.

This Pearl guy is the next David Koresh. That he has so many people following him and agreeing with this type of severe punishment is ridiculous. Does he actually advocate beating babies? My God, what kind of sick idiot is this? Does he think that a baby has the mental capacity to actually learn from this form of discipline? he is a fool to think so. Yes, turn this FB page over to the ASPCA, let him laugh at the charges for beating his dogs. Maybe he and Michael Vick (also another unrepentant, vile human) should get together. Vick can teach this demon how to pretend to be sorry but only really be sorry you were caught. They can both go to (or back to) jail, as far as I'm concerned.
