Tropical Storm Patricia is turning near the Baha of California along Mexico's west coast. While it is in the Pacific Ocean, it is providing rain for the eastern half of the nation. The upper level winds are taking this moisture into the southern planes and southeast. The active southern push of the jet stream will be enhanced by this moisture and develop another storm with moderate to heavy rain for the rest of this week. See more in the slide show below. This looks a lot more like a winter pattern, and a common scene in an El Nino year. This has been a tropical season of limitations, and this shows that the Pacific storms can be more important to the southeast US than what is happening on it's bordering Atlantic.
The rainfall forecast shows over 3 inches across the parts of Mississippi and Alabama between today and Thursday. More can be expected into the Mid Atlantic and North East leading into the weekend. For more images and the official Patrica forecast, see the slide show below.
