PZ Myers coming to Rochester

PZ Myers, PhD.

PZ Myers is coming to Rochester to speak at RIT. If you don’t know who he is, here’s a quick overview. PZ Myers is a biology professor at University of Minnesota Morris. He started writing a science blog called Pharyngula, which became very popular in freethought community. It was listed as one of the top-ranked blogs written by a scientist by Nature journal. Strong critic of intelligent design and creationism, Myers says it how it is; with brevity and honesty he doesn’t hold back. Also, he appeared in the Ben Stein’s Expelled movie. When Expelled was screened around the country before the release date PZ Myers tried to attend one of the screenings in Minneapolis, MN with Richard Dawkins and family. Unfortunately, someone recognized him and denied access to see the movie that he was in; but, Richard Dawkins and Myers’ family were admitted to see the movie.

This time Myers will be speaking about the controversial topic of irreconcilability of science and religion. You can’t mix oil and water, they always stay apart. Why would you try to mix science and religion? It doesn’t make sense. Stop by this lecture and hear an intellectual’s perspective on the topic. You will definitely enjoy it.

You should check out his recent lecture at the AAI convention. When he’s done, you’ll want to come see him speak at RIT. This is a rare chance to be able to experience his lecture in person. He will be speaking at the Webb Auditorium, Bulding 7 at 8:30PM on April 1st. So mark your calendars. This event is sponsored by the RIT Skeptics and Rochester Atheists.
