Scene from Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark
It seems that Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark wasn’t as fictional of a movie as we once thought. World Net Daily, a fundamentalist Christian “news” site is claiming that the object of the Spielberg/Lucas film, The Ark of the Covenant, has been found.
According to their sources, the magic box which held the original Ten Commandment stone tablets and burnt of the Nazis in the first Indiana Jones film has been hiding in a Church in Ethiopia for nearly 3000 years. They claim that a special guardian is trained to watch over the Ark until he dies and is replaced with a new guardian (just like in the third Indiana Jones film dealing with the Holy Grail).
So while the Ark of the Covenant has been hidden for over 3000 years, for some reason the Ark’s Guardian has revealed its existence to the world today. Why now? Because as Indiana Jones put it at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, “It belongs in a museum.” That’s right, the super holy man in charge, Abuna Pauolos who is the head of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia, believes that the Ark should be shared with the masses after 3000 years of hiding to be on display as a tourist attraction in… where else, Ethiopia. He is currently meeting with Pope Palpatine to discuss the Ark and its contents.
Yup, the story gets better. There are contents. While it is unclear whether the “original” stone tablets of the Ten Commandments actually carved by the hand of God himself are still in the Ark, the Ark is said to contain Manna. Manna is the magic food which sustained the Jews for 40 years as they were alleged to have wandered the desert with the Ark. So far respected archeologists have found no evidence that there ever was an exodus from Egypt to the “Promised Land.” Biblical Archaeologist Hector Avalos is skeptical of the exodus stating that, “one to two million people are going to leave an awful lot of garbage.” Some of the things which they might have left behind are pots, pans, shelters, excrement, etc. The fact is that none of those things have even been found and people have certainly spent a great deal of money searching for such evidence.
While it is doubtful that the Ark of the Covenant will burn people’s faces off, there is some debate about what the Ark’s re-emergence might mean. Some Christians believe that the Ark is in Heaven because of a passage in the Book of Revelations. So the Ark’s re-emergence might call into question the validity of that book which has become the cornerstone of many End of Days ministries. Many Muslims believe that the Ark can only be found shortly before the End of Days.

The "Tex Commandment"...really?
Unfortunately you are apparently eternally lost, evident by your ignorant miss-references to the Bible... The Jews wandered for 40 years after refusing to enter the Promised Land, the first time they arrived, for fear of the Nephilim that were in the land at the time... Unfortunately you are one of many in the world who will soon know the error in your skepticism and foolish uneducated opinions... read the Bible for yourself before trying to make Biblical references. It will be too late for a change of heart very very soon.
All you need to do is have Biblical knowledge and observe what is happening in the world today... it is a heartbreakingly obvious to the Biblically literate, that we are right at the door of the 7-year tribulation that will end in Christ's final return as eternal Savior and King to all who are humbly saved by accepting Christ's final sacrifice for our sin nature so we can avoid the eternal punishment we deserve... and the banishment of all ignorant people like yo
how do you know that we are in the end times. after all the person that best fit for the the 666 referred is Nero. what in the bible fit us better then the roman empire, the holy roman empire, the nopaltic war, world war 1 or world war 2
If this is true, why isn't there world wide coverage? I want to see pictures, proof, show me the the Ark.....
Mr. Rosch youre a disrespectful irreverent idiot. You will be held accountable for every idol irreverent word.
Thank you Critical in Lawrenceville. I corrected the typo.
i'm an ethiopian orthodox and i know that the ark of covenant is found in ethiopia and it is powerful.......but what i don't get is how is abuna paulos planning to show it to the world when God doesn't let unchosen people get into the temple it is kept in.........i know a stroy about a european adventurer who ignored the warnings given to him and when he went in he got himself burned out....i really hope the pop knows what he's doinn or we r all burning...
Of course you would only respond to the typo comment. You can't back up anything else you say, why defend it? Ignorant...can't believe you get paid to write this crap.
You shouldn´t "laugh" at things you don´t understand my friend... Read Romans 1st chapter. It was written specially for you.
This is not new. I mean, letting people see the thing would be new, but people in Ethiopia have claimed that they had this thing for a long time. I remember reading about when I was a kid 30 years ago.
Wow, Staks Rosch gets all of his information from only one side of the debate, and draws a lot of conclusions while showing how ignorant he is.
1. The Hebrews wandered the desert for 40 years, not 40 days and 40 nights.
2. Tens of thousands of ancient Hebrew artifacts have been found all over Saudi Arabia, which is where they wandered during that 40 years.
Whether there is a miracle in the Exodus story or not, one thing is certain: Rosch is very inaccurate about his facts.
dude, have you ever been over there? drop an empty soup can and see how quickly it gets snatched up and reused as something! trash left behind by emigrants wasn't gonna stay around for 3000 years, no matter what the archeologists say. but..It Kills Me that christians try to use the bible as proof that christianity is true. i even Believe that it all happened...but i could write my own book in which it's stated that everything within is all god's true word. why do you guys think that's valid proof?! that's like believing the marketing dept when they tell you that their product is best - just because they say so!anyway- i believe that it happened. but on faith. not lame testimony. but calling him Palpatine cracks me up! either way, thanks to All of you for some entertainment. Anxious to see how this all pans out.
Does the fact that the author of this article and maybe even the website itself does not agree with WorldNetDaily disqualify them as news?
Quote from above: 'World Net Daily, a fundamentalist Christian news site'
Does their point of view make them any less of a "news" site than this one? Must you put quotes around the word news, as if to say that they are not really news?
w-a-n-d-e-r-e-d is how you spell the word that means "to move about without a fixed course" (Webster's)
"trash left behind by emigrants wasn't gonna stay around for 3000 years, no matter what the archeologists say"
Ancient trash recyclers! LOL, taj! Only artifacts stamped "No Deposit, No Return" would be left behind for archaeologists by the bag ladies of antiquity! LOL!
You know, it's impressive to find all these jolly rationalizations and unsupported assertions tossed around with such ease and abandon. Nephalim! LOL! A Saudi Arabian Exodus! Really? I'll have to do an expose' on this nonsense. The nephalim one should be easy. There are loads of "evidence of nephalim" videos on Youtube and also loads of videos there exposing that evidence as hoaxes and photoshopped pictures, etc. The Saudi Arabian version of Exodus is a new one to me but I'll check it out. I never knew you could get to Saudi Arabia just by crossing the Red Sea! LOL!
Typos:
Indiana Jones (not Indian)
"for" 3000 years (not was)
wandered (not wondered)
I can't believe you are a "professional writer". Spellcheck isn't the best thing to depend on when publishing. God is in the details. You may want to re-read your articles before posting them. You would come across with more conviction if it didn't read like a 5th grade paper with misspellings.
Thank you for everyone how corrected my typos. I wrote the article at midnight and should have been more careful with my proofreading. Some one also corrected me on the amount of time the Hebrews were in the desert. I had said 40 days and 40 nights and the Bible says 40 years. So I made that change as well. The Bible authors repeated use of 40 was in my head and I just made an honest mistake. I admit the error of my ways and have made that correction as well.
Pope Palpatine? Really? How about in the future everyone refer to you as Staks Douchecanoe, the objective douchecanoe?
Need confirmation of the Exodus? Read about Bob Cornukes expedition to Mt. Sinai on his website...pictures confirm the biblical story
I am a retired Englishman now residing in Spain
I began researching the Ark of the Covenant in 1992.
My search recently led me to a cave in Egypt's Western desert. Apparently, the ark was stolen about the same time as it was first placed in Solomon's Temple and was being taken to the wealthy Governor of the Bahrian Oasis which is south west of Cairo.
Apparently he was collecting treasures. He was also the High Priest of Egypt and was in powere around 1000BCE. That was when the ark disappeared!
However whenever a gold box is discovered that resembles the description written in the Exodus then it would have to be authenticated.
The most likely method would be to have the wood radio carbon dated to determine when the tree was cut down.
If the Ethiopians claim they have the ark then would they perform that test?
If it coincides to the date of the Exodus then that would give it some authenticity as being the real ark. Anything later would be a copy.
People have been l
u guys are making me be afraid! each of u claims to know more about the bible bla bla bla bla...! i think the end of the world is in the corner!!!!
Continuation of my previous comment:::::
People have been looking for the Ark since the day it disappeared. Many searched the scriptures looking for clues but so far no one has discovered it or even an ancient copy. However even an ancient copy is discovered it would give us a better idea of what the original had looked like.
I have my own theory about its design especially what the Cherubs looked like. I have just completed a 400 page manuscript for publication which also mentions the role of the ark once it is found and much more. The book will be called "Arkquest"

I think "Show Me" fits this situation best, otherwise its just a rumor hanging around for three thousand years, although just showing the Ark would not answer basic questions about it.
Antiquarians would need to examine it in detail, isotope dating, microscopic analysis , xrays, elemental analysis. It could be a situation similar to the Shroud of Turin where incompetent or biased scientific analysis discredits the entire project.
A note of caution, I would not go near the thing without a Geiger counter. The entire story leads one to believe the Ark of the Covenant was radioactive. It could be a radioisotope powered communication device. Gold is excellent radiation shielding. The high priest going into the "Holy of Holies" just once per year would limit radiation exposure. The ancients probably had little knowledge of lead as shielding or even radiation for that matter. The inner sanctum was also lined with gold.
Thanks for an interesting story.
Saks now you should proofread your comments, "people how corrected my typos". Also I read the story on Worldnet Daily News and your version of their story is distorted at best. If people want an accurate account of the Worldnet article they should definitely check the original story out for themselves. Your sarcastic rendition is neither accurate nor entertaining it's just sad. May God Bless you
Moses broke the first set of commandments that were carved from the hand of God. He then had to recarve the second set himself.
u r so much smarterer then the dumb religis peple
actually,
1. there is evidence that the ark may have been taken to Ethiopia. That doesn't mean it is there, but it certainly a possibility that deserves to be seriously considered.
2. There have been artifacts dating that have been found dating to the correct time perid.
3. Nobody said there would be millions of people in an exodus following the ark. If it was moved, it was probably done in secrecy. Where did that "Biblical archaeologist" come from?
4. Aside from the facts and conclusions...
That is what I typically find about atheism. It is lazy. It doesn't bother with facts- It usually just jumps to ridiculous conclusions, no matter how intellectually untenable.
So I'm thinking this is a joke, right? Apologies if that's obvious, I never read this writer. The pope is identified as Pope Palpatine. I don't think Darth Sidious was ever named pope, and to the best of my knowledge the current pope is Benedict XVI.
all this still does not prove that this really the Arc Of The Covenant. I want the truth not just some ones .I think may-be or may-be not double talk with a forked tongue This is end time event .On you now. Do not make the same mistake twice. I implore You . Thank-You . Jerry Smith
I was surfing and came across this article. I had previously been aware of the announcement as it was posted on Adnkronos - the Italian news website (though some people may have misinterpreted what the Ethiopian patriarch said). I was doubtful from the beginning that this would pan out. It's too bad, because this is exactly the kind of presumptive hype that keeps atheists away from considering faith as viable. Such misdirection steals the message of the Bible. For example: Genesis never says that the world is 6,000 years old, but many people of faith seem willing to die for this assumption. The result? The point that Moses knew the earth was previously nonexistent and the point that life began in the water are completely overlooked. Meanwhile, atheists continue to deny that sin exists, even though it's present all around them. Why? Because it's a lot easier to talk about pottery scraps in the desert than it is to talk about the wickedness of the heart. Ever actually read Jesus?
The Sinai Peninsula isn't the kinda place that preserves human excrement or artifacts. There's really nothing there of any kind.
Also, I believe Christians as well as Muslims both believe that the ark will turn up in the end days. So this doesn't disprove anyone either.
"So far respected archeologists have found no evidence that there ever was an exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land. You may want to update your Biblical Archeology sources. The past 50 years in ANE studies have been quite fruitful in establishing a Hebrew presence in Goshen and then a century or so later in Canaan around the mid 1400's BCE.
Likewise, the Biblical Hebrew text does not yield a number anywhere near "two million", nor does it locate the route to Mt. Sinai in the Sinai peninsula. I'd be happy to give credible sources to anyone interested in ANE studies or Biblical archeology.

"The Sinai Peninsula isn't the kinda place that preserves human excrement or artifacts. There's really nothing there of any kind."
I presume you know this because you have some expert knowledge of archaeology and the Sinai Peninsula, Andrew. You might want to go back and hit the books again though. Here, from what many of you probably consider an unimpeachable source (IE: Fox News), is a news report of an entire 3,000 year old Egyptian city in the Sinai, excrement, artifacts and all: http: // www. foxnews. com/ story/0,2933,359441,00. html (we're not allowed to put web addresses in the comments so take out the spaces and it should work. If not, google "Archaeologists Excavate Ancient Egyptian City in Sinai" and that should get you there too). For other Sinai archaeological sites, google Tell el-Borg, Har Karkam, Gebel Musa, etc., etc...
Why are you lying about what WND reported? We reported exactly what happened -- and didn't happen. That is what we do in the news business.
The patriarch of the Orthodox Church in Ethiopia claimed in a videotape interview that he would hold a press conference to announce just what we reported -- that he would move Ethiopia's "Ark" to a museum for public inspection.
No one at WND made any value judgment as to whether this was the "real Ark." We reported the news -- just as half a dozen Italian news agencies did.
We also reported that he didn't follow through on his promise.
I understand you're an atheist, so maybe truthfulness means nothing to you. But when you smear WND, you not only soil my reputaiton as a newsman for 30 years, but also the reputation of my heroic staff of intrepid journalists.
By the way, what's your experience in the news business?
I don't know about all of the science and archeological stuff. But take it from me, if you find the ark, and it has "Manna" DON'T EAT IT.
Atheism doesn't "jump to ridiculous conclusions." You have to be kidding me. Everything we currently experience leads us to believe that religion is unnatural - if there is a god, and at some point he directly interacted with the world, he certainly doesn't anymore.
If there's one thing I can't understand about religion, it's how people justify the ridiculous favoritism displayed by their allegedly "all-loving" deities. So, it was worth the Judeo-Christian God's time to make himself known back then, but not now? And I've heard all the excuses about a plan too complex for humans to understand. I guess you can live feeling like a pawn if you want to; your god loves you ever so much, but it's not important that you know what he's doing with you.
I hope no one gets angered by this comment or wastes time responding to it. It's meant to be food for thought, because I really enjoy the atheist lifestyle and someone else might enjoy it, too, if only he is exposed to it.
