The American Atheists has announced that it will be lowering its membership fees. The new rates, which will be available beginning July 1st, are being offered to help the organization to increase membership, to encourage activism, and to raise more money to fund their activities.
According to David Silverman, Vice President and Communications Director of American Atheists, "the board (with few exceptions), the State Directors, [and the] Regional Directors are all volunteer." Further, the blog and Web site are maintained by volunteers.
The new fees for membership for an individual will be reduced from $40 to $20 per year. Family memberships will go from $65 to $35 per year. To join AA with the new rates, visit them on the Web starting Wednesday.

Excellente! Other Freethought, Humanist, Atheist groups, take note... just because some of us are poor doesn't mean we aren't atheist out here in the real world!
C'mon Atheists if you really care about your stance, really believe freedom from all religion is the answer, cough up your hard earned, give till it hurts, surely there is nothing more important. It is time to put your money where your mouth is. Unless it isn't really that important to you, in which case your half arsed support is not needed we can do just fine without you.
What exactly does an atheist organization teach us that most atheists that go out to join it don't already know or think?
And it then asks you to PAY to get involved with it. Le Bull.
