The Secular Coalition for America has issued an Action Alert concerning the proposed resolution that will be before the House of Representatives mandating that "the Architect of the Capitol to engrave the words 'In God We Trust' and the post-1954 Pledge of Allegiance onto the walls of the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC)."
Following is the full Action Alert.
Before the August recess, a resolution will be voted on by the House of Representatives that will require the Architect of the Capitol to engrave the words "In God We Trust" and the post-1954 Pledge of Allegiance onto the walls of the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC). References to religion and faith are already included in several of the permanent exhibits, and the words "In God We Trust" are even present in one such exhibit. But that's not enough for Rep. Dan Lungren (R-CA) who is pushing for a larger, bolder display. Let your Representative know that you oppose his efforts.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that this additional engraving could cost tens of thousands of dollars. Tell your Representative that it is inappropriate for taxpayer money to be spent promoting a distorted image of America that undermines The First Amendment, and alienates the millions of nontheistic Americans who neither "trust in God" nor pledge "under God." This legislation will most likely pass the House with a large majority vote; however, members of Congress must be educated about why appeasing the Religious Right is offensive to millions of Americans who value our nation's secular heritage.

Call it a "stimulus package"...
May the God of this Universe lift the veil from your eyes. This nation whereby many are refusing to acknowledge God, was indeed created by Him. Disagree as you may, you are entitled; however, one day you will meet Him and be accountable, as we all will be. Thank God He has given you a mind to think, breath to speak and fingers to type your articles. What if you are wrong? You reject a gift that can give you life, if Christianity is a false beleif, what do we have to lose?
May the God of peace bless you with truth in your heart.
"In god we trust": All we have to lose is the money it would take to do this. All we have to lose is freedom of religion - this is the government giving preference to christianity over other religions, in direct conflict with the constitution. All we have to lose is any hope of reconciling the deep political and ideological divides in this country by indulging in what amounts to a stone-carved slap in the face to the multitude of ethnic and religious groups who also call America their country.
America is not, and never was, a "Christian" country. You forget that the first people here were Native Americans who never heard of God or Jesus. The first Europeans to set foot in America were pagan Norsemen from Iceland. The Founding Fathers were deists who universally decried the influence of religion in politics. The belief that America is a christian nation is the result of the xenophobic attempts at revisionist history by a paranoid minority of evangelicals.
